Entranco

Kenneth Swindaman was recently named survey group manager in Entranco’s Bellevue office. Swindaman has over 10 years of experience as a project surveyor, combining fieldwork and data analysis to produce boundary, construction and engineering design surveys. He has been a team leader on complex projects.

Putnam Collins Scott

Putnam Collins Scott Associates recently announced that Doug Goodwin has been promoted to the position of senior associate. Goodwin has been with the firm for 10 years. He is a member of ASCE and is SEAW state president. He has been responsible for engineering and managing new construction, renovations, remodels and residential projects. Goodwin recently completed the new Ted Brown Music Store, and Rochester primary and middle schools. Current projects include the Bonney Lake High School and the Muckleshoot Natural Resources Building.

NBBJ

NBBJ graphic design recently added John Rubino for his strategic business expertise. Rubino is knowledgeable in finance, brand strategies and the tech marketplace. Graphic design has become integral to architectural projects, whether dealing with signage, identity or promotional materials, according to NBBJ.

FEA

Jim Portugal has joined Facility Engineering Associates in Seattle as a project manager for their facility management consulting services. He specializes in CMMS/CAFM evaluation and implementation, business process evaluation, facility condition assessment and preventative maintenance, and has 22 years of industry experience.

McGranahan Architects

Carl Lyson has returned to McGranahan Architects after spending nine months in Japan. Before his departure he was on the team for Redmond High School and Redmond Junior High. Upon his return, he is contributing to the University of Washington Phase 2B project, renovation of a series of historic buildings in downtown Tacoma’s Warehouse District

Davis Wright Tremaine

Troy T. Bailey, Brian L. Johnson and David J. Ubaldi have joined the Seattle office of Davis Wright Tremaine. Bailey and Ubaldi are associates and Johnson is of counsel. Bailey focuses on corporate and tax law, and was with Cooley Godward in San Francisco and Dorsey & Whitney in Seattle. Johnson works in intellectual property and patent law. He was with SEED Intellectual Property Law Group and was a patent examiner. Ubaldi focuses on real estate and land use, and was with Byrnes & Keller.

University of Washington

James Severson, current president of the Cornell Research Foundation, has been named vice provost for intellectual property and technology transfer at the University of Washington, starting Jan. 1, 2003. The UW's Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer includes a unit that develops, markets, protects and licenses inventions that arise from the school's $800 million-a-year research activities. Severson will be building the "second generation" technology transfer models and act as a liaison with private industry and government officials locally, nationally and internationally. He was in charge of technology transfer from Cornell's Ithaca campus and the Weill Medical College of Cornell in New York City, and before that worked for the Office of Patents & Technology Marketing at the University of Minnesota.

The American Accounting Association named Terry Shevlin editor of The Accounting Review. Shevlin is a professor in the UW Business School and is noted for his research on executive and employee stock option compensation. He will head the national journal until 2005.

WAICU/ICW

The Washington Association of Independent Colleges and Universities/Independent Colleges of Washington appointed two new members to its board of directors: Dick Bangert II of Paccar and Dick DiCerchio of Costco Wholesale. The board consists of 10 Washington independent college and university presidents and 18 Washington business leaders. The purpose is to promote independent liberal arts higher education in Washington state.

Westin Seattle

Donald Boyd has been named the new director of sales and marketing for The Westin Seattle. He will be in charge of catering, convention services and reservation operations. Boyd was formerly with The Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.

Pagliacci

Pagliacci opened its first pizzeria on the Eastside, in Restaurants at The Corners at Bellevue Square. It is located between Crate & Barrel and Nordstrom. The slice bar found at other locations has been replaced with table service and the menu has been expanded. Pagliacci's 55th Street Delivery Kitchen has moved into a bigger space on the corner of 15th Avenue Northeast and Lake City Way Northeast. The Lake City Way kitchen allows the company to expand delivery into new North Seattle areas.

As part of FlightSafety Boeing Training International's continuing commitment to Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, and the CIS, FSB has expanded its sales teams in these regions with the appointment of two new sales people.

FlightSafetyBoeing

FlightSafetyBoeing has added two new sales people: Richard Ning (Ning Xianbo) based in Beijing, PRC, and Andrew Rushton based in London-Luton, UK.

Ning will be responsible for sales in China. He was a sales manager for The Boeing Co. in the Beijing office. Rushton will work in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the CIS countries. Prior to working for FSB, he spent two years with Aviation Systems International. FlightSafetyBoeing is a newly acquired, wholly owned subsidiary of Boeing.
