Alteon Training, a Renton-based aviation training company, named John Barrett regional sales manager to be based in Luton, United Kingdom, where he will be responsible for sales activities in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Barrett, who has 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, has worked with British Caledonian Airways, Ryanair, Thomson Simulation and Parc Aviation. Alteon is a subsidiary of Boeing Co.
Tacoma-based Columbia Bank promoted Sue Leonard, vice president and corporate audit manager, to the new position of senior vice president and manager of loan operations and compliance. Prior to joining Columbia, Leonard was vice president at Key Bank.
The National Federation of Independent Business presented Scottie Marable with the Small Business Champion Award for her years of advocacy and lobbying on the behalf of Washington state small-business owners. Marable is the co-founder of Bellevue-based Pinnacle Marketing.
Simply Thai opened a new Seattle location at 1001 Andover Park E. that will provide lunch service through the cafeteria at Boeing Longacres Park Facility.
Kibble & Prentice, a Seattle-based financial services firm, acquired BGI, Inc. BGI is a Seattle-based insurance company specializing in the medical professional liability market.
Parker, Smith & Feek has added three new board members. Jim Chesemore, Jim Hamlin and John Emery are all vice presidents and shareholders in the Bellevue-based company. The insurance brokerage was founded in 1937.

Cool computers and a hot new rig are among the tools that Sentinel, a new Seattle residential real estate company, are using to make its mark. Gerard M. Stannard, CEO and designated broker, says his company uses cutting-edge technology to streamline the process so it can eliminate mortgage and escrow fees without charging customers higher interest rates. Sentinel has equipped a 2004 Lincoln Navigator with wireless computers, phones, a high-speed printer and other gadgets to let buyers and sellers access and provide the latest data about properties from the field. Offers can be faxed from the property while copies are printed in the Navigator.
Housing Resources Group, the Pacific Northwest's largest private nonprofit affordable housing provider, begins its 24th year with one new board member, Mary Kathryn (MK) Long, senior vice president at Wells Fargo Bank's Real Estate Group. Officers elected for 2004 are Bryan Friend, G.E. Asset Management, president; Laurel Spelman, Downtown Emergency Service Center, vice president and president elect; and Quentin Kuhrau, Unico Properties, secretary/treasurer.
Seneca Real Estate Group has named Mike Hassenger and Mike Stanley principals. Hassenger, a member of the state bar association, has more than 20 years' real estate experience. He currently is assisting Northwest Hospital develop a garage and medical office building, and he advises other nonprofits. Stanley, who holds an MBA, is a civil engineer who has been in construction and project management for more than 15 years. He works on a variety of projects, including office, health care and biotech.

Quadrant Homes recently recognized real estate agents Anna LaMotte of Coldwell Banker All American and Cheryl Farnham of Windermere Real Estate Paragon for selling the most Quadrant Homes of any outside agent in 2003. Each sold 16 Quadrant homes in 2003. Quadrant gave each a Rolex watch during a gala at the Space Needle. Quadrant officials say they paid more than $4.9 million in outside agent commissions last year when outside agents helped Quadrant sell 75 percent of its homes. Quadrant pays a 3 percent commission on the first $100,000 of the home's sale price and 2 percent on the balance.

Month of Meals opened a new location at 18005 N.E. 68th St., Suite A-115, in Redmond. Month of Meals is a Carnation-based service that allows customers to prepare a month's worth of gourmet and home-style meals in a four- to six-hour cooking session.
Seattle Lighthouse for the Blind will recognize George Jacobson for 35 years of service at the annual employee awards ceremony. Jacobson joined Lighthouse as marketing director in 1968 and was later named president. Lighthouse's mission is to create opportunities for independence for people who are blind, deaf-blind or blind with other disabilities.
