S.D. Deacon raised $85,400 for Hurricane Katrina relief. The money came from offices in Washington, Oregon and California; and was divided between the American Red Cross, Northwest Medical Teams, America's Second Harvest and Texas Children's Hospital.

D.A. Davidson & Co., a full service investment firm based in Great Falls, Mont., announced that James Kerr has been named director of the Western region for Private Client Services. Kerr will oversee 16 offices throughout Washington, Oregon and Utah.
Seattle's Atlantic Street Center is one of three organizations honored this year by the Annie E. Casey Foundation for its work strengthening families and communities. The center received an unrestricted award of $500,000. It helps 2,000 low-income families every year through programs and services at two neighborhood centers.
Onyx Software Corp. announced Philip C. Minasian has joined the company as chief strategy and development officer. Minasian will be responsible for charting strategy, as well as spearheading partnering and business development.

Todd Pacific Shipyards named Dale E. Baugh to the new position of senior director Navy programs. Baugh was director of ship repair processes at Todd Pacific. He will have responsibility for the aircraft carrier, surface combatant, and submarine lines, and spend the majority of his time in Bremerton. He commanded the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1995-1999.
SafeHarbor Technology Corp., a Satsop-based provider of Web-based customer interaction and business intelligence services, named Jack Riley senior vice president of global sales. He worked for Cisco Systems. The new vice president of marketing and product management is Blake Cahill.
The University of Washington, Bothell has selected Elaine Kraft as director of public relations and communications. Kraft was communications director for King County, serving as senior communications officer, strategic advisor and press secretary for King County and Executive Ron Sims.
The Washington State Association of Fire Chiefs has formed a partnership agreement with Applied Digital Mapping. The two will offer a Geographic Information System Web-based service for Washington fire departments to use for planning, analysis, interagency coordination and emergency preparedness. Emergency operations centers, hospitals and other public safety agencies will also be able to use the service.

Portland-based Homestead Capital has closed two private equity funds that raised $78 million to develop low-income rental housing. Homestead Capital is a nonprofit syndicator that forms partnerships with corporations, reinvests the capital in affordable housing, and delivers tax credits to investors. Investors in the $60 million Homestead Equity Fund V include Fannie Mae, Wells Fargo Bank, U.S. Bank, The Standard, and Bank of the West. Homestead Western Communities Fund, formed to meet the needs of smaller community banks, closed with $18 million in capital. Investors include Columbia Bank, Banner Bank, Bank of the West, South Valley Bank & Trust, Bank of the Cascades, River City Bank, Cashmere Valley Bank, Columbia River, Bank of the Pacific, Cowlitz Bank and Pacific Continental Bank.
Rob Aigner, Jim Bowles and Mark Flippo have earned the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors designation. Bowles is managing director of CB Richard Ellis, Aigner is executive managing director of Colliers International and Flippo is co-founder and principal of Pacific Real Estate Partners. They were approved as SIOR members at the group's fall conference in Chicago. Patrick Gemma, senior development manager with Panattoni Development, joined SIOR as a developer associate.
The Urban Land Institute's Emerging Trends program is 7:30 a.m. Dec. 8 at the Westin Bellevue, 600 Bellevue Way N.E. Greg Johnson of Wright Runstad & Co. will lead the panel discussion.
