Holmes Harbor Golf and Beach Club in Freeland hired Jarrett Messenger as executive chef and director of operations. Messenger was executive chef at Bell Harbor International Conference Center. The club also hired Bobby Brown as a head golf pro. The club is owned by The Schuster Group, a Seattle-based real estate development and investment firm.
The Viewpoint Inn in Corbett, Ore., is open for lunch, following a two-year legal battle. Geoff Thompson and Angelo Simione own the property and have spent $1 million to restore the inn, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Rider Hunt, a worldwide property and construction consulting firm, has joined forces with Levett & Bailey in Asia and the UK-based Bucknall Austin to create a new global practice. The combined group will consist of 1,800 professionals. Services will include cost consulting and project management.
Dr. Jason Fligor opened a new dental office called New 32 Aesthetic and Family Dentistry at 4915 25th Ave. N.E. across from University Village. It is meant to look like a boutique hotel suite with amenities including wireless Internet access and TVs for patients.
The Estate Planning Council of Seattle appointed new officers for 2007 to 2008. Gene F. Williams of with New York Life Insurance Co. is president. The immediate past president is Robin Russell of US Bank. Barbara Sherland of the Seattle law firm Stoel Rives is president-elect. Don Kurth of Hagen Kurth Perman & Co. is secretary and Rick Conrad of Wells Fargo is treasurer.

The 2007 property tour of the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties on July 26 will cover the Denny Triangle area of downtown Seattle. The tour and registration will start at Teatro ZinZanni at Sixth and Battery at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow the tour and begin at 6:30 p.m. Speakers will be Al Clise of Clise Properties, Ada Healey of Vulcan, Kate Joncas of the Downtown Seattle Association and John Powers of Colliers. The tour will cover development plans, green streets and transportation improvements. Cost is $75 for members and $125 for non-members. Randy Aliment has been appointed chairman of the board of governors at City University of Seattle. Aliment is a senior partner in the Seattle office of Williams Kastner, a Northwest law firm, and served as legal counsel for City University from 2000 to 2006 when he was appointed to the board.
Seattle-based employment referral service company Another Source hired Ana Gonzales as a talent strategist and Tracy Russell as business development manager. Gonzales was with Lakeside Capitol Management. Russell has 20 years of experience in the industry.
The King County Bar Association awarded the William L. Dwyer Outstanding Jurist Award to Senior Circuit Judge Betty Binns Fletcher of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. It is the association's highest honor for a member of the bench and recognizes lifetime achievement. Fletcher has an office in Seattle.
Seattle-based biopharmaceutical company Cell Therapeutics hired Dr. Jay Umbreit as medical director of the XYOTAX/CT-2103 program in the Clinical Department. Umbreit has been a professor at University of South Alabama and Emory University in Atlanta. XYOTAX is a chemotherapeutic drug candidate for treating lung and ovarian cancers in women.















HV Engineering promoted Brian Roetcisoender from senior mechanical engineer to vice president/principal and Stephen Bloedel from mechanical designer to senior mechanical designer. Roetcisoender is LEED-accredited and has experience designing mechanical systems for commercial, industrial, private and public sector clients. He is working on several energy saving renovation projects involving boiler plant and air side heat recovery system upgrades. Bloedel has worked on designing building mechanical systems for commercial, private and public sector clients and is working on several large, multi-use projects.
IA Interior Architects announced new hires and promotions. Richard Smith in Denver is promoted to principal. Andrew J. Patapoff in Denver and Chad A. Wentz in Denver are promoted to senior associate. Chien Chen in Seattle, Swati Deshpande in Silicon Valley and Nancy Heywood in Seattle are promoted to associate. Chen and Heywood are both LEED-accredited.
