Stewart Landefeld, partner at law firm Perkins Coie and chair of its national business practice, has temporarily resigned from the firm to fill the position of interim chief legal officer for his client Washington Mutual. He replaces Fay Chapman, the bank's long term general counsel, who is retiring. Landefeld is not a candidate for the position as successor and expects to return to Perkins Coie. Roy Tucker, business partner in the Portland office of Perkins Coie, will be interim chair of the business practice in Landefeld's absence.
The Municipal League of King County elected Bradley Meacham as chair. Meacham works for Microsoft. Other elected officers for 2008 include Robert Klein as vice chair, Norma Jean Hanson as secretary and Kristin Peterson as treasurer. The league is a volunteer organization that works to improve the quality of public decisions and public officials.
Clark Nuber, a CPA firm in Bellevue, promoted Dave Fleck, Sara Elizabeth Hyre, Joyce Lee and Pete Miller to principal.

Kibble & Prentice, an insurance and financial services company, hired Lisa Mushel as sales executive in the Employee Benefits Division.
Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna selected Melanie de Leon to head the state Executive Ethics Board. She worked in different divisions of the Attorney General's Office, most recently as staff attorney with the state Department of Health. She replaces Susan Harris who is retiring after working for the state since 1975.
John P. Ahlers, founding member of Seattle law firm Ahlers & Cressman, was appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to serve on the Capital Projects Advisory Review Board as the private industry representative. Ahlers will serve on the board until June of 2011. The board reviews alternative public works contracting procedures and provides guidance to state policy makers on those contracting methods.
Lars Anderson recently joined Wallace Properties as associate general counsel. He received a juris doctorate from the University of Oregon School of Law and holds an undergraduate degree from California Polytechnic State University. Anderson will be dealing with development, brokerage and acquisitions, and financing.
Philip Assouad and Giovanni Napoli, multi-family investment sales specialists, have joined GVA Kidder Mathews' downtown Seattle office. Assouad and Napoli, formerly with Marcus & Millichap, have earned several top selling and listing awards. Since 2006, they have completed more than $130 million in transactions.
Seattle-based Security Properties Inc. has acquired the 248-unit Nutwood West Apartments in Fullerton, Calif., for $41 million. Situated on a 6.54-acre site in Orange County, it is near five colleges and universities. SPI plans a substantial renovation. The SPI group has both management and ownership responsibilities for approximately $1.5 billion in assets.
Stay In Home Reverse Mortgage, a Bellevue financial advisory and advocacy firm that provides seniors with reverse mortgages, has added 6,300 square feet of office space to accommodate growth, doubling the size of its space at the corner of 124th Avenue Northeast and Bel-Red Road. Since its founding in 2006, Stay In Home's staff has also more than tripled in size, growing from 15 to 50 employees. Mitch Grafstein of Colliers International brokered the deal on behalf of Stay In Home.
