The Seattle Goodwill board of directors has elected new officers to serve until March of 2011. Michael Killeen, an employment law partner with Davis Wright Tremaine, is the new chair. Killeen is the longest serving Goodwill board member with more than 23 years of service. Wayne Lau of Washington First International Bank is the vice chair. Amelia Ransom Letcher of Nordstrom will serve as secretary and Richard Pahre, formerly of Moss Adams, has been reelected to another term as treasurer.
Carrie Hayne has been named executive director of Providence Home Services, giving her responsibility over Providence Sound Homecare and Hospice in Olympia, and Providence Home Services in King County. Hayne has served as interim leader for the Providence home health ministry at Providence Sound Homecare and Hospice, in addition to leading Providence Home Services in King County since October of 2009. She is based in Renton.
This month, Karen Millen opens its 12th store in the U.S. in The Shops at The Bravern in Bellevue. Karen Millen is a British fashion store.

Threshold Group, a wealth management and family services firm headquartered in Gig Harbor, has completed the purchase of assets from Ashbridge Investment Management, a Philadelphia-based family wealth management firm. Ed Lazar will retain his position as president of Threshold Group while Charles Grace, CEO and chairman of Ashbridge, will be named to Threshold's board of directors. Bill Knott, senior client relationship officer at Ashbridge, will take over the role of chief relationship officer for Threshold Group.
Mountlake Terrace-based Vivacity, whose mission is to engage employers to create and sustain a culture of worksite wellness, hired Marcia Ridley as chief operating officer effective immediately. Ridley recently served as director of total rewards for Premera Blue Cross.
Seattle-based DocuSign, an on-demand electronic signature solution company, announced e-signed third-party documents, including real estate contracts, are now being accepted by the Federal Housing Administration. DocuSign said it helped lead an industry-wide effort to move the FHA to recognize e-signed third-party documents.

Kurtz is in the health care group and is working on the Cascade Medical Center addition and remodel, and Kootenai Medical Center. McFadgen was project manager for the Spokane Falls Community College sn-w'ey'-mn Building, and her projects include the SFCC campus classroom building. Cole is project manager for renovation of Eastern Washington University's Patterson Hall and co-project manager for the Eisenhower High School replacement. Loghry collaborates with the firm's architectural and interiors teams in production, specifications and construction administration. Baumgartner provides creative and technical support to corporate marketing and information-technology functions. Paul-Quanz is human resources director. Romine is a member of the educational design group, and his projects include First Creek Middle School and Glacier View Junior High School. Shaffer has worked on Ardmore Elementary School and Bellevue High School. Shu's projects include Snohomish High School and the University of Washington's Hutchinson Hall drama design studio remodel. NAC has offices in Seattle, Spokane, Los Angeles and Denver, with a staff of more than 150.
Michelle Ramos has joined GeoEngineers as an associate geotechnical engineer in the Redmond office. Ramos has 14 years experience in geotechnical engineering, with an emphasis on trenchless design and the water/wastewater industry. Previously, she was a senior project engineer with Staheli Trenchless Consultants. Ramos' work includes the Tulalip water pipeline in Everett and the Ballard siphon replacement project in Seattle. She also is chair of the Northwest chapter of the North American Society for Trenchless Technology. Seattle-based GeoEngineers is an earth science, engineering and technology firm with 15 offices in seven states.
BLRB Architects promoted
John Wegener to senior principal;
David Pool to associate principal; and
David Boileau to associate. Wegener has been with the firm since 1999, and has 30 years of experience in development and design of educational facilities. He has managed $140 million in projects for BLRB including Mount Tahoma High School, Curtis Junior High School and higher education projects. Pool was hired in 2005 as a project manager. His projects include the physical education/performing arts center addition for Garfield High School and the new Pacific Plaza building. Boileau joined the firm in 2004. He has led development of the intern program and overseen the BIM team. His projects include Panther Lake Elementary School and the Puyallup High School east campus addition, phase I. BLRB designs educational and other public/community projects.
SSA Acoustics has promoted
Alan Burt to associate partner. He has been with the firm for six years. He provides consultation for mechanical system noise and vibration, architectural acoustics, environmental noise and audiovisual systems. He recently passed the Oregon engineering acoustics exam and is a member of ASHRAE.
Ray Calabro has been named a principal of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. He joins principal
Robert Miller in leading the Seattle office. Calabro began his career with the Pittsburgh office in 1995. Based in Seattle since 1999, he is responsible for leading the design and documentation for several cultural facilities, including Turtle Bay Visitor Center and Museum in Redding, Calif., and the Grand Teton Discovery and Visitor Center in Jackson, Wyo. He is working on publication of a monograph on the firm's work to be published by Rizzoli in the spring.
Banner Bank hired Luis Hernandez as a residential loan officer at the Seattle Madison branch. Hernandez has over 10 years of banking experience and has worked at Chase, Bank of America and Washington Mutual Bank.
The Puget Sound Blood Center has expanded its Marketing and Community Relations Division to include a new department: the Marketing and Business Development Department. The department will seek out new opportunities to grow business lines at the Blood Center, such as tissue services and donor testing for other blood centers. Robert Ress will lead the department as director of marketing and business development. Ress has served as the center's Roche Diagnostics representative for several years.
The Metropolitan King County Council has confirmed Caroline Whalen as director of the King County Department of Executive Services. Whalen has served in an acting capacity since February and has worked with King County for 15 years. She has served as deputy director of the King County Department of Development and Environmental Services, and a legislative analyst for the King County Council.
