Mahlum named Erik Goodfriend director of its new centralized health care studio. Health care design has traditionally accounted for up to 60 percent of the firm's revenues and this move brings together those involved in the health care practice in different cities. Goodfriend will lead health care staff in the Portland and Seattle offices. He has been with the firm for 12 years and has been associate principal since 2009. He has 26 years experience in architecture and has worked on hospitals, outpatient clients and commercial projects in the Northwest. He is the lead medical planning principal for the new Peace Island Medical Center on San Juan Island and is directing two renovations at Salem Hospital in Oregon. Goodfriend previously worked for Pacific Associates Planners Architects in San Diego and Singapore, and for VCE, a consulting firm, in Vienna, Austria. Mahlum has 100 employees.
Sally Poliak, COO of Seattle-based communications firm Nyhus Communications, won a Stevie Award for Best Executive in the annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. Poliak directs day-to-day management and operations at Nyhus. The competition recognizes women executives and entrepreneurs and the organizations they run.
HomeStreet Bank promoted Jay Iseman to executive vice president and chief credit officer. Iseman has been with HomeStreet since August of 2009, initially managing the Special Assets and Other Real Estate Owned groups and serving as credit administrator for the Income Property Division.
Edge Asset Management in Seattle hired Egor Rybakov as a portfolio manager for international equity. Edge is an affiliate of Principal Global Investors and a member of the Principal Financial Group. Rybakov has 11 years of international equity portfolio experience, most recently with ENR Investments & Pacific Income Advisers.
The Leapfrog Group announced its list of the nation's top 65 hospitals, including Swedish Medical Center's First Hill and Cherry Hill campuses and Virginia Mason Medical Center. Foster Pepper hired Janelle Milodragovich and Bryan Helfer to its Seattle office. Milodragovich is an associate in the Employment and Labor Relations Practice Group. She worked for Littler Mendelson in San Francisco. Helfer is an associate in the Real Estate Practice Group. He was with Pircher, Nichols & Meeks in Chicago.
Blankslate Creative, a Seattle-based creative agency, named Melinda Torres as the agency's first partner. Torres has been with the company for seven years and has lead several departments including account services, strategic planning and business development. Her clients have included Four Seasons, Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard.
Bothell-based Seattle Genetics hired Chris Boerner as vice president marketing and Darren Cline as vice president managed markets. Boerner worked at Genentech. Cline has 20 years of sales and marketing experience, and has worked at Amgen and Alexion.
Mednax of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., acquired Pediatric Critical Care Associates of Spokane. The business consists of six physicians who provide pediatric critical care services at Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital in Spokane The group will practice as part of Mednax's Pediatrix Medical Group.
Tacoma’s Rushforth Construction Co. appointed Shannon Kopp as senior marketing coordinator. Kopp previously held marketing positions at URS, Nano Cluster Devices and Severn Trent De Nora. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and public relations from Texas State University-San Marcos. Rushforth is a wholly owned subsidiary of Adolfson & Peterson Construction.
