Seattle's McKinstry Co. won the W.O. Lawton Business Leadership Award for its collaboration on green jobs and skills with the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County. The honor was presented by the National Association of Workforce Boards and accepted by David Allen, McKinstry's executive vice president and a WDC board member.
The Bureau of Reclamation and the Bonneville Power Administration recently won EPA's 2010 Champions of Environmental Leadership and Green Government Award, which recognizes agencies participating in the Federal Green Challenge to reduce greenhouse gases. The award was based upon a $1.2 million lighting retrofit by Light Doctor LLC at Grand Coulee Dam that reduced energy consumption by 1 megawatt. Light Doctor serves Washington, Idaho and Oregon.
The Special Olympics of Washington named Foster Pepper Managing Partner Robert Kunold chair of the board of directors. This is Kunold's fourth year on the board. The nonprofit helps people with intellectual disabilities participate in year-round sporting leagues and events.
KeyBank's newest branch has opened at 4105 E. Madison St. in Madison Park. This is the bank's 160th retail location in Washington. From 2009 to 2012, the bank plans to build 20 new branches in this district and remodel more than half its area locations. Brooke O'Malley will manage the branch.
Woodinville-based Quantivate, a provider of web-based business continuity, vendor management, and enterprise risk management software, hired Dan Banning as director of marketing. Banning has 10 years of marketing experience with software and technology companies.
The Shoreline City Council voted unanimously to appoint Julie Underwood city manager. Underwood replaces Robert Olander who announced his retirement last August. Underwood has been assistant city manager for Shoreline since 2002.
