Stoel Rives, a full-service business law firm, hired Brian Park in the Seattle office as a partner in the Technology & Intellectual Property Group. A registered patent attorney, Park handles litigation involving technology, secrets, brands, creative work product and business deals. He was a partner at Dorsey & Whitney.
Berk & Associates, a public policy and management consultant, hired Paul Roberts as a senior policy analyst, with a focus on regional planning, land use, transportation and infrastructure policy. Roberts spent 20 years in city management as the director of planning and community development in Everett, and as public works director and assistant city manager in Marysville.
Extreme Telecom Data of Spokane opened for business in January, offering area businesses solutions for telecommunications. The firm is owned and managed by Lee Houk, formerly with Northwest Communications Center. Houk has 21 years of sales management experience.

Seattle architect Bill Kreager will give a free presentation called “Honey, I Shrunk the Lots” at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Lincoln Theatre, 712 S. First St. in Mount Vernon. Envision Skagit is holding the event to look at where growth will occur in Skagit County and how farms and rural land can be protected. Seattle-based Security Properties said it has signed a 15-year master lease agreement with the Thomas Jefferson School of Law for the Entrada Apartments in San Diego. Security bought the property last July for $22 million at a 6.25 percent cap rate. The 172 units will provide student housing.
The King County Board of Health elected Metropolitan King County Council Member Joe McDermott board chair for 2011. McDermott was appointed to the board after joining the council last November. He will replace council member Julia Patterson, who is stepping down after five years as chair. The board is responsible for setting county-wide public health policy, enacting and enforcing local public health regulations.
As part of its corporate reorganization following the relocation of Seabourn to Seattle, Holland America Line has promoted Capt. Cees Deelstra to vice president, nautical operations. He also will assume responsibility for fleet security. Deelstra joined Holland America Line 38 years ago as a cadet officer.
Acme Business Consulting, a consulting firm focused on improving business processes for Fortune 500 companies, opened a Seattle office. Acme has locations in Portland and San Francisco. The Seattle office is led by Managing Director Darin Hilliker. He has 17 years of consulting experience and was senior executive and partner at Accenture.
