Kristine Young, CEO of Des Moines, Iowa-based Miller the Driller, last week became the first woman president of the Associated General Contractors of America. Young is overseeing the group's effort to boost demand for construction by enacting pro-growth tax and trade policies and advocating investment in the nation's aging infrastructure. Other officers inaugurated were: Joseph Jarboe, senior vice president of Clark Construction Group of Bethesda, Md., senior vice president; Paul Diederich, president of Industrial Builders of West Fargo, N.D., vice president; and Howard Pebley, president of McAllen Construction of McAllen, Texas, treasurer.
Woodland Park Zoo hired Nancy Johnson as vice president of business development and finance. The new position will focus on revenue opportunities and business development. Johnson recently operated a business consulting firm in New Mexico and previously worked for the Smithsonian.
Life Care Centers of America hired Nadine DeKlerk as vice president of the Northwest Division, based in Federal Way. DeKlerk will oversee 30 skilled nursing, rehabilitation and Alzheimer's centers in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. DeKlerk worked for the company from 2005 to 2007.
First Sound Bank hired Joe Bannick as vice president of sales to lead business development efforts. Bannick has 28 years experience in sales and leasing.
David Nemens, community development director for the city of Covington, has resigned to pursue other opportunities. Richard Hart, former planning manager, will take his place. Nemens started working with Covington in 2006 and oversaw the Downtown Plan & Zoning Study. Hart joined the city in 2007 after eight years as community development director for Mercer Island.

Michael DeLeo joined Bellevue-based law firm Peterson Russell Kelly as a partner. DeLeo's practice focuses on commercial litigation and business matters. He was previously a partner at Eisenhower & Carlson.
The Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason hired James Dennis, an expert in mesenchymal adult stem cell biology and tissue engineering, to expand BRI's bioengineering capabilities. Dennis was an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and served as faculty in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and Pathology there.
KCTS 9 hired John Lindsay as vice president of content to oversee the expansion of original programming and broaden the scope of the station's interactive and community engagement efforts. Lindsay comes to Seattle from KETC/St.Louis, where he has been vice president for national and international productions since 2007.
Snohomish County PUD named Benjamin Beberness chief information officer. Beberness has 20 years of information technology experience, most recently as director of delivery services for PacifiCorp in Portland, Ore.
