Whitepages, which provides contact information in North America, hired Mayur Kamat, a product lead at Google, to head the communications experience division and focus on caller ID and spam/scam protection apps. Kamat was part of the Google Hangouts team. He will be vice president of mobile at Whitepages, based in the downtown Seattle headquarters.

Express Construction Co. hired Robert Whitcomb and Greg Tisler as superintendents, and Kevin Kuntz as project engineer. Whitcomb has more than 15 years of industry experience and Tisler has been in construction for more than 30 years. Kuntz holds a bachelor's degree in international business from the University of San Diego, and has experience in planning and logistics.

Katie Fitzpatrick joined Spokane-based Garco Construction as marketing director. Fitzpatrick holds a bachelor's degree in organization communication from Eastern Washington University. She previously worked at Trindera Engineering as the marketing and business development coordinator.

Schwabe has joined forces with Stolowitz Ford Cowger, a seven-attorney Portland-based intellectual property/patent law firm, adding 32 IP attorneys and paralegals to the Schwabe IP department. The seven attorneys include Micah Stolowitz, Steve Ford, Graciela Cowger, Bryan Kirkpatrick, Michael Cofield, Jeffrey Marlink and Mark Meininger. StoFoCo has expertise in electrical engineering, optics and other technical disciplines. Schwabe's expertise is in software, e-commerce, telecom, semiconductor, media, biotech, medical devices and consumer products.

The ports of Tacoma and Seattle have formally launched The Northwest Seaport Alliance, joining forces to create the third largest gateway in North America. Plume21, a strategy and creative firm with offices in Seattle and La Jolla, California, developed concepts and brand identity for the marine cargo partnership.

Qingqing Miao has joined Lane Powell as an attorney in the Business Practice Group, where she will focus on immigration and business law. Miao worked as of counsel at Ellis, Li & McKinstry. She is on the executive committee of the Washington Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and secretary of the Asian Bar Association of Washington.

Red Lion wins website awards

Spokane-based Red Lion Hotels won a top award from the Web Marketing Association at WebAwards 2015. Red Lion's website earned a perfect score in seven categories. HeBS Digital of New York designed redlion.com. The site also was named the top hotel/resort site in the 2015 Interactive Media Awards. Red Lion was founded in 1959 and has 130 U.S. hotels.

Two October NAIOP events on retail

Retail is the topic of two October breakfast meetings in Tacoma organized by the Washington chapter of NAIOP. The first meeting is Oct. 1 on finding the right sites, and starts at 7:45 a.m. at Pacific Grill Event Center, 1530 Pacific Ave. Lisa Hill-McCay, vice president at Buxton, will talk about using analytics for site selection. The second event is Oct. 30 with a panel discussion about the state of retail real estate starting at 7:15 a.m. at Pacific Grill Event Center. The panel led by representatives from First Western Properties will talk about how tenants are evolving, and who is moving in and out of the market and why.
