In Seattle, CallisonRTKL appointed Chris Beza as vice president. Beza has worked in North America, the Middle East and Africa on commercial projects. CallisonRTKL is a global architecture, planning and design firm.

Coughlin Porter Lundeen hired Laura Grignon as senior civil project manager. Grignon spent 18 years total at engineering firms in the region, specializing in K-12 and public works projects. Her clients have included Seattle, Edmunds and Shoreline school districts. Coughlin Porter Lundeen is a Seattle structural and civil engineering firm.








In Seattle, OAC Services promoted Andrew Sahl to project manager, Nathan Seney to senior architect, Kerry May to senior architectural designer and Marta Dzheneva to senior project engineer. Lindsey Avery and David McBride were hired as project engineers, Bob Baldwin as a senior project manager and Marybeth Lathen as a project coordinator. Sahl works with public and private clients, and is managing capital improvement projects at Lake Washington School District. Seney has 18 years of architectural design experience, four at OAC. He leads remediation projects for housing and higher education clients. May joined OAC in 2008 and is lead building enclosure designer for many residential and commercial projects. Dzheneva has nearly 14 years of experience in structural design and plan review, and is in the structural engineering group. Avery holds a bachelor's in civil engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and has over three years of experience in construction. She will support work at WSU Everett Academic Center. McBride has over 12 years of Naval engineering experience, and education in construction management. He will support education planning and construction projects. Baldwin has over 17 years of experience on commercial/retail and higher education. He will manage construction of Tahoma High School in Maple Valley. Lathen has five years of experience in architecture and engineering, and will work on the construction management team.


Architects Rasmussen Triebelhorn of Tacoma hired Laurel Whittaker as an interior designer and Sarah Middleton as marketing manager. Whittaker has over 16 years of experience in space planning and interior design, with an emphasis on tenant improvements, and has worked in architectural and engineering project support. She is working on the 2030 Strategic Facilities Plan Implementation for Yakima County Courthouse. Middleton has over 10 years of marketing, proposal management and event planning experience in architecture/engineering. She will lead marketing for business development efforts.



In Seattle, DKS Associates promoted Richard Hutchinson to office manager and hired Chad Martinell as a senior transportation engineer and Luka Ukrainczyk as an assistant transportation engineer. Hutchinson will continue as senior project manager while working as office manager. He has 15 years of experience that includes business leadership. Martinell has over 12 years of experience as a traffic and transportation engineer. Ukrainczyk was a transportation engineer intern for Washington State Department of Transportation. DKS is a national transportation planning and engineering firm.

John L. Mericle has joined Lane Powell as counsel to the firm. He has more than 41 years of experience with securities regulation. Before joining Lane Powell, Mericle was a member of Harris, Mericle & Wakayama, which he co-founded in 1981.
Grant Thornton LLP has acquired most of the assets of Arryve, a strategy consulting company based in Bellevue, to expand client services to include marketing and sales, operations, human capital, finance and accounting, information technology, and corporate strategy.

Puget Sound Regional Council general assembly members voted to elect Redmond Mayor John Marchione president and Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers vice president.
Fonte Coffee will open a new coffee bar this summer in Bellevue Place, just outside of Hyatt Regency Hotel and near Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square, offering specialty drinks, cafe menu, beer and wine.




The Seattle office of Abbott Construction hired Joe Holden as project manager, Jamey Catalano and Jacob Lindal as project engineers, and Jennifer Garrison as project assistant. Holden has more than 30 years of MEP experience and is managing work at Tacoma General Hospital. Catalano has seven years of experience and is supporting the Special Projects Division. Lindal holds a bachelor's degree from Central Washington University and is supporting work at The Everett Clinic's new Shoreline location. Garrison earned a bachelor's degree from California State University at Chico and is assisting the estimating department.



Tacoma-based Gray Lumber Co. added Blake Fransen, Bryan Bartlett and Milt Farvour to its sales office. Fransen, a recent University of Washington graduate, is working the sales counter and handling store advertising. Bartlett has 15 years of building product sales experience and worked for Gray in the past. He is handling multifamily construction materials. Farvour has experience in lumber production, lumber treatment and export sales at Manke Lumber and Simpson Timber. He is trading panel and lumber commodities at Gray.

Puyallup-based Miles Companies is updating its brand by dropping the red and green stripes on its logo and mixer trucks in favor of a bold “M” in a more contemporary font accented with charcoal gray and red lettering. The 73-year-old aggregate and ready-mix concrete company says the new brand represents strength, innovation and versatility. The new brand covers Miles Sand & Gravel Co., Miles Resources and the Concrete Nor'West division.
