Fisher Phillips, a national labor and employment law firm representing employers, hired Ralph Hua as an associate in its Seattle office. Hua focuses on immigration law and its impact on employers. He comes from MacDonald Hoague & Bayless. Fisher Phillips has more than 370 attorneys in 32 offices.

King County Business Awards

Seven small businesses won King County Executive's Small Business Awards. Tomboy X is small business of the year; Concord Engineering is minority-owned small business of the year; Triangle Associates is woman-owned small business of the year; Pier2 Marketing is exporting small business of the year; Green Cleaning Seattle — Otium-Maid Services is green/sustainable small business of the year; Cognission Corp./Sponge School is workforce development small business of the year; and Reber Ranch is rural small business of the year.

In Portland, Stoel Rives won a 2018 Law Firm Award from Construction Lawyers Society of America and a 2018 Law Firm Diversity Award from Diversity Law Institute.

80 pre-sales at Mira Flats

Mira Flats in Bellevue has 162 condos.

Intracorp says that Mira Flats condominium in downtown Bellevue is selling nicely: nearly 80 of 162 units have been pre-sold. Prices start in the $400,000s. The complex, at 1085 103rd Ave. N.E., will open early next year. The project was begun by Daniels Real Estate and Create World America (a Chinese-backed entity) as apartments. GGLO was the architect, and Chinn Construction was the general contractor. Intracorp announced earlier this month that it will buy the six-story project; that deal hasn't closed yet.

Oakpointe shows Ten Trails model homes

This Saturday, Sept. 29, Oakpointe Communities will debut four new model homes for its 2,200-acre Ten Trails development. They open at noon at Civic Park, at 23201 Roberts Drive in Black Diamond. The models were built by Conner Homes and Lennar. Ichijo Technological Homes and Rudd Development will also be on hand. Ten Trails could total 6,000 homes by 2030, with one million square feet of commercial space. Phase I, with about 350 homes, is now underway. The first homes are expected to be ready next year. Davis Property starts DuPont building

Davis Property & Investment started a new industrial building at Center Plaza in DuPont. Jeff Davis said in a statement, “DuPont has been a great market for DPI over the last five years, with our most recent building completed in 2016 leasing up to a stabilized 75 percent occupancy in just 12 months.” Building 5 will have 35,455 square feet and an estimated value of $6.2 million. Completion is scheduled in the first quarter of next year. Monte Decker and Chris Cowles in CBRE's Tacoma office are leasing the space. Center Plaza is part of the 3,500-acre Northwest Landing master planned community.

Farley

Bellevue-based MZA Architecture hired Patrick Farley as a principal and senior project manager. Farley has 35 years of experience working on projects. They include the 34-story Tower 12 Apartments, the 50-story Fifth & Stewart Hotel and Apartments, and the 45-story Westbank condo tower at Third and Virginia, all in Seattle. MZA designs commercial and mixed-use developments in the U.S. and Asia.

Stantec hired Jill Connell as a senior health care project manager in the mechanical practice in Seattle. Connell has been a mechanical engineer for over 30 years, and was with Mazzetti + GBA. She worked on Overlake FutureCare New East Patient Tower in Bellevue and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport North Satellite modernization. She will lead mechanical design on projects and do multidiscipline projects. Stantec Seattle provides mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering along with specialty lighting, acoustics, technology, audio/visual and wireless design.

SHKS Architects promoted Matt Inpanbutr, Nelson Martelle and Adam Hutschreider to principals and shareholders. Inpanbutr was hired in 2007 and concentrates on preservation projects such as Lewis Hall at the University of Washington. He is managing the Disability Resources for Students project at Western Washington University and renovation of Lake City Library. Martelle joined SHKS in 2008 and has been instrumental in design and completion of Seattle Fire Station 18 in Ballard. He is project architect for Seattle Public Utilities Drainage & Wastewater South Operations Center and renovations of Gracemont at Bush School. Hutschreider was hired in 2014 and has managed civic, institutional and commercial projects with the city of Seattle, the UW and WWU, and led office and lab projects. He is managing design for the SPU South Operations Center, and works with clients and contractors on alternative procurement methods.

Palmerton is an engineer-in-training who holds a bachelor's in environmental engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Paulson is an engineer-in-training who holds a bachelor's in agricultural engineering from Purdue University. They will provide project support and engineering services on municipal water, wastewater and stormwater engineering projects.

He has a bachelor's in civil engineering from Washington State University and has done design support for public works projects at Otak. Rasor works on residential projects. He has a bachelor's in civil engineering from Walla Walla University and was an associate engineer for Ruggeri-Jensen-Azar and a project manager for International Seismic Application Technologies. Wine works on commercial, mixed-use and residential projects. He has a bachelor's in civil engineering from Clemson University and was director of civil engineering for a firm in Greenville, S.C. Blueline provides civil engineering, land use planning, and landscape architecture services.

In Seattle, AHBL hired Yi Yang as a project engineer and Alderik Gastmans as a landscape designer. In Tacoma, it hired Michael Lesmeister as a project engineer and Skye Kendall as an engineering technician. Yang is in the civil engineering department, and has a bachelor's in environmental science and a master's in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Washington. Gastmans focuses on irrigation. He has experience in residential and commercial landscape projects. Lesmeister is in the civil engineering group. He has a bachelor's in civil engineering from Washington State University. Kendall has an associates degree with an emphasis on civil, mechanical, and BIM architectural studies from South Puget Sound Community College. He has a year of experience as a civil engineer technician.

T-Mobile US

Sunit Patel joined T-Mobile US in Bellevue as executive vice president and merger and integration lead. Patel was executive vice president and CFO at CenturyLink, and CFO and co-founder of Looking Glass Networks. He will lead T-Mobile's effort to merge with Sprint, which is expected to close by mid-2019.

DKS Associates

Portland-based DKS Associates formed a partnership with HAAS Alert of Chicago to deploy connected vehicle technology for emergency responders, utility crews and other city workers who perform dangerous operations in the roadway. HAAS Alert streams digital alerts to warn motorists when emergency crews and road service operators are nearby. DKS provides transportation safety solutions to municipalities.

Bullitt Foundation

In Seattle, Bullitt Foundation awarded the 12th Annual Bullitt Environmental Prize to Nicola Smith, a doctorate candidate in marine biology at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. Smith's research focuses on invasive species, coral reef fish ecology and data-poor tropical fisheries in her native Bahamas. The $100,000 award recognizes people who bring new perspectives to environmental work.

Seattle Art Museum

Seattle Art Museum and the Betty Bowen Committee picked multidisciplinary artist Natalie Ball of Portland as the winner of the 2018 Betty Bowen Award. Ball gets $15,000 and a solo exhibition at SAM next spring. Amy Bernstein won the Kayla Skinner Special Recognition Award and Deborah Faye Lawrence won the Special Recognition Award.
