Union Gospel Mission

Seattle's Union Gospel Mission appointed Scott Chin as president. Chin joined the nonprofit last year as chief development officer. He spent 16 years at World Vision and five years at Microsoft. He succeeds Jeff Lilley, who moved back to Southern California to become a pastor.

Bellingham SeaFeast

Liz Purdy is the new executive director of Bellingham SeaFeast, an annual event that celebrates Whatcom County's maritime heritage, working waterfront, and commercial fishing and seafood industries. Purdy was associate director and is experienced in event planning.

City of Seattle

The Seattle Office for Civil Rights has five vacancies on the Seattle Human Rights Commission. The commission seeks candidates with diverse backgrounds in human rights, law, public policy, advocacy, social services, education and business. Smith

King County Executive Dow Constantine appointed Rachel Smith as deputy executive. Smith joined the Executive Office in 2014 and will continue as chief of staff in addition to her new role. Before joining the county, she worked in government relations at Sound Transit and was a policy advisor to Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels.

Choose Washington NMA

Lawrence Krauter will serve on the Choose Washington New Middle-Market Airplane Council. Krauter is CEO of Spokane International Airport, Felts Field and Airport Business Park. The council is promoting Washington as the preferred location for design, production and final assembly of a new aircraft under study by Boeing.

5th Avenue Theatre

Janet and Doug True won the 2019 5th Avenue Theatre Excellence Award. Janet's early career included public policy work at The American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C. She also worked in the U.S. Senate and House, and state House of Representatives. Doug is president of Gull Industries. The award will be presented Oct. 4 in Seattle.

Jena Thornton joins Kinzer

Kinzer Partners has hired Jena Thornton, who'll join the capital markets team to build the firms hospitality practice. The 25-year industry veteran led her own firm, Magnetic ERV. Craig Kinzer said in a statement, “Jena's experience across all aspects of the hospitality industry gives her a competitive advantage in the field that's hard to match.”

McEver leads Indigo Real Estate

Seattle-based Indigo Real Estate Services has a new president: Chris McEver. He was vice president. McEver will oversee the multi-family property management firm, and focus on new opportunities in luxury high-rise, metro and suburban market-rate housing, as well as affordable housing for low-income and senior households. Indigo employs 324 people and manages 87 complexes with 10,948 units in Washington, Hawaii, Illinois and Montana. Indigo said it will open six new projects this year with 1,403 units.

CREW March 14 topic: tech space

CREW's March 14 luncheon will start at 11:30 a.m. at Motif, 1415 Fifth Ave. in Seattle, and the topic is “The Evolution of Modern Tech Space.” Lori Noto of Sugar Mountain will moderate the panel: Tony Castillo of BNBuilders, Julia Park of Google, Susana Covarrubias of Gensler and Laura Lohman of Seneca Group. Companies want a creative environment that inspires people, and makes them happy and productive. The panel will talk about the how tech workplaces have changed in the Seattle area and what's next.
