In Seattle, ZGF Architects hired Dr. Flavia Grey to lead its firmwide data and research and development group. Grey will work to incorporate data-driven decision-making into design. That data includes occupancy evaluations, space utilization studies and other project-specific and firmwide research. She is doing preoccupancy evaluations for Seattle Children's Hospital, which is moving administrative functions off its main campus. Grey wrote studies examining the connection between building design, sustainability, well-being and productivity as a Stanford University researcher, and hosts the U.S. Green Building Council podcast “Built for Health,” in which she interviews public health professionals, researchers and building-industry practitioners about designing, building and operating healthier buildings. ZGF focuses on architecture, urban design and interior design.

In Seattle, B+H Architects hired architect Matthias A. Olt as the design director for architecture. Olt will work to expand the firm's core and shell design services and its mass timber design practice and related aspects of design innovation. He is working on a new 17-story mixed-use tower on Fifth Avenue in downtown Seattle. Olt has 26 years of international experience. Most recently, he was with DLR Group in Seattle, where he provided design leadership in mass timber design and technology, led a concept design for a 12-story mass timber office and hotel tower in Seattle and developed a construction typology study for Tishman Speyer in California. B+H Architects offers architecture, planning, interior design, urban planning and real estate advisory and consulting services.

Seattle-based Tiscareno Associates promoted Michelle Kinsch to principal. Kinsch is a designer and project manager with over 10 years of experience in multifamily and mixed use projects. She has worked on high-rise apartments, mid-rise mixed use, and low-rise cottage-style cluster developments in Seattle. Tiscareno provides architecture and urban design services.



Degenkolb Engineers hired Mike Bramhall as a principal and Scott Thomas as a senior associate in Seattle, and Cecelia Larson as an associate in Portland. Bramhall is on the forensics team in the Northwest. He has over 30 years of experience in structural and forensic engineering. He is focusing on repair and reconstruction of damaged buildings, structural damage investigations and assessments and structural engineering expert witness services. Thomas has over 30 years of experience investigating structural, civil and building envelope failures. He has a background in materials testing and inspection and provides engineering support to the insurance, legal and building management industries for construction defect litigation. Larson has over a decade of experience in structural forensics engineering. She does structural damage assessments and damage investigations for property losses and is an expert witness for commercial, residential and marine facilities. She works in southern Washington and Oregon. Degenkolb provides structural, seismic and forensic engineering services.







In Seattle, Hargis Engineers promoted Doug Svee, Grant Jamison and Mark Humiston to associate principal, Jeff Hoover and Taylor VanderKley to senior associate, and electrical project manager Chris Teague and commissioning lead Doug Scott to associate. Svee is leading enterprise infrastructure upgrades and the addition of STEM buildings to a number of two- and four-year campuses. Jamison is a leader in the electrical lifestyles team and champions the user experience in commercial retail, office and mixed-use spaces. Humiston applies 16 years of experience to advance educational, industrial and highly sophisticated R&D spaces. Hoover and VanderKley have nearly 20 years of combined experience integrating electrical applications to civic and academic program needs. Teague and Scott align services and solutions to meet the evolving needs of Hargis' Fortune 100 and 500 clients. Hargis is a mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, security, commissioning and energy services consulting engineering firm.


Bellingham-based Zervas Architects hired MacKenzie Yeiser as an associate and Mackenzie Nix as an interior designer. Yeiser holds a bachelor's in architecture from the University of Kentucky. She will work with teams on educational, residential and commercial projects. Nix has a bachelor's in interior design from Washington State University and over six years of interior design experience locally for a design and construction firm specializing in hospitality renovation, and as lead designer for a residential and commercial architect. She's also been a freelance graphic designer. Zervas is an architectural and interior design firm.

Boise, Idaho-based Strata promoted Paxton Anderson to chief operating officer. Anderson was previously North Region manager, and has led the company toward increased presence and profitability in the Inland Northwest. He has 24 years of experience, including 14 with the firm, and will work to unify and streamline systems and processes across its seven offices. He works in the Spokane office. Strata provides geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing and inspection services.

Portland-based Standard Insurance Co. (The Standard) promoted Kelli Wilson to assistant vice president of infrastructure and operations, a role where she is responsible for delivery of IT infrastructure services. Wilson was senior director of the Transition Management Office, and had served in several IT leadership positions at the company. Prior to joining The Standard in 2012, she was an IT service delivery manager at Atos and a technical integrator for Computer Science Corp.
Dmitry Shashkov is the new CEO of Critical Process Systems Group in Boise, Idaho. Shashkov has over 20 years of experience in the semiconductor and life science industries, most recently as president and CEO of Exogenesis, a nanotechnology startup focused on novel medical devices. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of HC Starck, a supplier of refractory metals to the semiconductor industry. Shashkov replaces Paul Frascoia, who is pursuing other opportunities but remains a senior adviser to the company. CPS, part of Wynnchurch Capital of Rosemont, Illinois, is a group of manufacturing and design companies providing products to the semiconductor, life science, chemical processing, gas systems and wastewater industries.
Phoenix-based Alpine 4 Technologies bought Excel Fabrication of Twin Falls, Idaho. Terms of the deal, which has closed, were not disclosed. Excel makes and installs sanitary process piping and steam, condensate return, air, mechanical and utility lines, as well as waste water systems. It also provides maintenance, shutdown work, turnarounds, millwright work for equipment removal and installations, project management and general contracting. Alpine 4 has businesses in software, automotive technologies, electronics manufacturing, energy services and fabrication.
Battelle is giving away its decontamination system services for N95 respirator masks to health care providers. The company developed a system that uses hydrogen peroxide vapors to decontaminate biological contaminates in used masks. It has systems operating in the states of Washington, Ohio and New York, and has a federal contract of up to $415 million to fund systems in 60 locations. The system is based on research that Battelle performed for the FDA in 2015 to assess the feasibility to decontaminate N95 respirator masks in the event of a shortage resulting from a pandemic.
