Real Estate buzz: Smith Tower seeks large office tenant

Something seems to be brewing at Seattle's venerable Smith Tower. Is the owner trying to land a large tenant or perhaps an owner-user wants to buy the 42-story icon?
It is not clear what's happening, but we started digging when we heard some solid tenants whose leases are expiring were being offered only short-term renewals. One company wanted to stay in its space or at least in the building, but can't get the landlord to show them any space.
