On the Block: Why a warehouse owner is ‘bullish' on the Rainier Valley

Back in 2006, through an LLC, Gary Bodenstab and partners paid almost $3.7 million for a full block in the Rainier Valley. He's the CEO and a majority owner of Johnson Barrow, the 50-year-old HVAC manufacturers systems rep that has its offices there, at 2203 23rd Ave. S. Its 10,000-square-foot converted warehouse building dates to 1930.

The almost 1.2-acre block was recently upzoned to 75 feet. Most of it is currently overgrown and used for parking.
