The Real Estate Adviser |
January 2, 2004
The Christmas tree is outside, waiting for the recyclers. The ornaments and lights are in boxes, ready for their place on the closet shelf. The kids are headed to the airport, en route to school and jobs.
The holidays soon will be officially over, marking the time when the traditional “Snowbirds” take flight. Thousands of Puget Sound boomers and seniors, not unlike real migrating birds, will head south to warmer environs like Arizona, Florida and southern California and set up shop in a second home. Retirees, and those quickly getting to the stage where they can work in any place they choose, will pack up their laptops and golf clubs with the hope that their part-time work will not interfere with strategic tee-times.
