Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has designated the Edmonds-based Hotel Group as a preferred management company for its Sheraton and Four Points brands. This means Starwood will recommend The Hotel Group to franchise hotel owners and developers, according to Doug Dreher, Hotel Group CEO. Established in 1984, The Hotel Group owns and manages 30 properties in 11 states.
Matthew Gardner, principal of the real estate economics company Gardner Johnson LLC, has been appointed to the board of trustees of the Washington State University Center for Real Estate Research. The center's goal is to provide a range of information in easy-to-understand language.
S-J Management a privately held Seattle real estate investment, brokerage and property management company sold an office building in Phoenix's Biltmore area for $4.95 million, or $225 per square foot, to GTC II LLC. S-J and an affiliate, Biltmore Lakes Associates LLC, bought the building a year ago for $4.2 million, or $191 per square foot, according to S-J CEO Michael Sauter.
Calabasas, Calif.-based Brookwood Place LLC, the new owner of the Brookwood, a 181-unit apartment property, plans to convert the Bothell property to condos, says Kenny Dudunakis of Hendricks & Partners. Dudunakis was the listing agent for the seller, Western National Group of Irvine, Calif., which sold the property for $22 million. Jeff Gilson of Pinnacle in Seattle represented the buyer.
The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties has published "Rules of Thumb for Distribution/Warehouse Facilities Design." The handbook helps developers and owners plan and develop facilities by incorporating best practice methods, according to the group. The focus is facilities 100,000-square-foot and larger. Sept. 15 is the deadline to enter BetterBricks' Seattle sustainability competition. It's the first time BetterBricks, an initiative of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, is having a Seattle contest. Nominations can be made at betterbricksawards.com.
