Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services said a 1,432-square-foot office condo in Athena Condominiums has sold for $400,000. Mark J. Thygesen, David Maling and Chris Maling from Marcus & Millichap's Seattle and Los Angeles offices, had an exclusive listing on behalf of the seller, a bank/financial institution. The buyer was a limited liability company represented by Thygesen. The condo is at 323 Queen Anne Ave. N. Apt. 102. It was built in 1999 and has two bathrooms, a kitchen and four office spaces. There are two office/condos in the 93-unit building.
The Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association will hold its Economic Day on Jan. 19 with two events: a luncheon and a dinner meeting. The lunch is at the Washington Athletic Club and the speaker is economist John Mitchell, who will talk about how the national and regional economies will influence commercial real estate. It starts at 11:30 a.m. and costs $45. The dinner meeting is at Broadmoor and the speaker is Dr. Stephen K. Kappel of Arizona State University on how the last election will affect the banking industry, new regulations banks may face and the impact of Gen Y on the industry. Grubb & Ellis Co. said Bill Condon, managing director, has been appointed to the Washington State Commercial Association of Realtors board of directors. He has seven years of commercial real estate experience.
Casey Trees has joined Pacific Real Estate Partners' industrial team in the Kent Valley and Pierce County. He has more than seven years of experience, including leasing assignments in excess of 3.1 million square feet and sales transactions valued at approximately $125 million.
Regency Centers said it has been selected to help create the “Green Retail Guide: Integrating LEED into your Leasing Process” by the U.S. Green Building Council. Regency will work with Green Building Services, a sustainable development consulting firm, and Ecoxera, a green business strategies and communications firm. The guide is slated for publication this year. Regency owns, operates and develops grocery-anchored and community shopping centers.
HighMark Investments said Washington Imaging Services will take space in the HighMark Medical Center in Issaquah. WIS will maintain its imaging practice in the Medical Center of Issaquah while expanding into the HighMark Building. The 45,000-square-foot center is set for completion in June and is targeting LEED gold certification. GVA Kidder Mathews is the leasing broker.
Frances Costigan joined the Keller Williams Realty Seattle Metro West Market Center. She returned four years ago to the real estate field. The office is at 4452 California Ave. S.W. and has over 60 associates.

Nine people got awards from Seattle King County Realtors for their achievements in 2009: Jason Watabe, Realtor of the Year; J. Lennox Scott, Realtor Champion; Brenda Courtade Realtor Cultural Awareness; Kristen Greenlaw Realtor Achievement; Catherine Clayton, Affiliate of the Year; Claudia Wicks, Instructor of the Year; Bob Richards and Dave Paremski, Community Service; and Vernon Cook, Governmental Affairs Volunteer of the Year.
Richard Kendall was given the 2009 Member of the Year award by the Washington State Chapter of NAIOP. Kendall, who is with the communications firm Frause, shared the award with Mariann Stuart, director of business development at Affiliated Engineers Inc. They co-chair the chapter's communications committee, and publish a monthly and quarterly newsletter.
The NAIOP Sustainability Development Committee is holding a meeting Jan. 21 to discuss how natural disasters, specifically flooding and the associated updated flood maps, affect the Green and Puyallup river valleys. The updated flood maps have a significant impact on the commercial real estate market. The event will look at changes being proposed, flood insurance, and implications for property values and development. The panel will include John Graves of FEMA, Grant Degginger of Cascade Water Alliance, Molly Lawrence of GordonDerr and John Pietromonaco of Hill-Raaum-Pietromonaco.
