Distressed Properties: Fact or Fiction

NAIOP's South Sound meeting on May 14 will be on “The Emerging Market of Distressed Properties: Fact or Fiction” at the Hotel Murano, 1320 Broadway Plaza, Tacoma, starting at 7:30 a.m. The panel will be Heather Burgess of Eisenhower Carlson, Dan Balmelli of Barghausen Engineering, Rick Sanders of Orion Real Estate Advisors, Marc Nemirow of Benaroya Capital and Andy McDonald of Columbia Bank. Cobalt Mortgage

Cobalt Mortgage said three of its loan officers — Ann Liberato, Jeff Bell and Jeff Tisdale — were on the list of top loan originators for 2009. Kirkland-based Cobalt said it is the largest privately owned mortgage banking firm in Washington. It has 10 additional branch locations on the West Coast.

NAIOP

NAIOP South Sound and the Developing Leaders group will meet today at Masa Restaurant in Tacoma's Sixth Avenue entertainment district for drinks, appetizers and conversation. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. This is the first of a series of NAIOP networking events for 2010. The Developing Leaders will coordinate transportation to the event from Seattle. A shuttle will leave at 3:30 p.m. and return at 7:30 p.m. To register go to http://www.naiopwa.org.

Cushman & Wakefield

Cushman & Wakefield said its world headquarters at 1290 Avenue of the Americas in New York received LEED gold certification. The building has a 30 percent reduction in water usage and a 25 percent reduction in lighting power density below ASHRAE standards. More than 75 percent of construction waste from the build-out was diverted from landfills and the furniture is made from more than 20 percent recycled content. An education plan will inform employees, clients and visitors about the sustainability measures.

SMBA

The Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association has two events planned for May. The Income Property lunch will be Tuesday, May 4, with Gary Danklefson, managing director at Jones Lang LaSalle. The last dinner meeting for the season will be May 18.
