NAIOP Developing Leaders

Jones

Lane Powell real estate attorney Timothy W. Jones was one of 15 winners of NAIOP's 2011 Developing Leaders Award. He is co-chair of the state NAIOP chapter's Developing Leaders Committee. The award is for commercial real estate professionals, 35 years of age and under.

Bentall Kennedy

Bentall Kennedy is the highest ranking fund manager in the Americas, according to a survey by the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark Foundation. Bentall Kennedy also is fifth on the global top 10 list, which measures the social and environmental performance of property funds. The survey looks at sustainability issues, including energy consumption, water consumption, waste collection, recycling, CO2 emissions and employee training. Bentall Kennedy's U.S. headquarters are in Seattle.

State housing conference Sept. 26-28

The 18th annual Washington state affordable housing conference will be Sept. 26-28 at the Spokane Convention Center. Among the speakers are pollster John Zogby, architect Michael Pyatok and state Chief Economist Arun Raha. The state Housing Finance Commission, state Department of Commerce and the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance put on the conference for builders and developers, architects, lenders, lawmakers and others. NAIOP looks at Thurston County

Josh Bays, a site analysis expert who helps companies decide where to locate, is the keynote speaker at a real estate forum put on by NAIOP and the Thurston County Economic Development Council. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Indian Summer Golf and Country Club, 5900 Troon Lane S.E., Olympia. Apartment development conference

The Seminar Group is hosting a day-long conference, Successful Apartment Development for Maximum Profit and Minimal Risk, Sept. 30 in Seattle at West 8th, 2001 Eighth Ave. The state Department of Licensing has approved the class for 7.5 clock hours of continuing education for real estate professionals. Michael Rourke is Lorig Associates' new director of property management. He manages residential and commercial portfolios and will lead the property operations and management teams. He was vice president of operations for CarrAmerica Realty, where he managed the operational and financial performance of 3 million square feet of commercial property in Washington and Oregon.

Yalowitz

Office tenant advisory specialist James Yalowitz joined Kidder Mathews' Seattle brokerage division as a vice president. He worked at Colliers International and was Rookie of the Year in 2010.

Matrix Real Estate

All 10 units in this West Seattle condo project have been sold.

All 10 units in a West Seattle condo project at 1350 Alki Ave. S.W. have been sold after the previous developer lost the project in foreclosure midway through the sales process. A limited liability company managed by Pacifica Enterprises of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., bought the unsold units in a bulk sale. When Matrix Real Estate of Seattle took over marketing and sales in January, three of 10 units were unsold. Matrix's Chaun Mackey and Sarah Heath worked with the construction management company J. Taylor Consulting on requests from buyers. Asking prices ranged from $499,950 to $598,950, and this year units sold for between $477,500 and $570,000, records show. Pacifica's LLC bought one of those units. Units that closed from 2008 through 2010 sold for between $520,000 and just over $1 million. The view condos range in size from 1,325 to 1,425 square feet. Each has a private elevator entry and radiant in-floor heat.

EMB Management

Bellevue-based EMB, which manages community associations for multifamily properties, was named Associa's 2010 Medium Size Office of the Year. Associa is a national community association company. The award is for client growth and retention, employee morale and profitability.

ULI retail event Sept. 20

The Seattle council of the Urban Land Institute will hold a breakfast in Bellevue at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 20 on how to revamp aging retail properties. Ron Sher of Sher Partners will moderate the discussion with Susie Detmer of Commerce Real Estate Solutions, a Cushman & Wakefield Alliance; Beth Dwyer of GGLO; Rick Parks of TRF Pacific; and Bellevue Planning Director Dan Stroh. Marc Nemirow of Benaroya Co. will moderate the program. Dana Behar of HAL Real Estate Investments will talk about acquiring the Seventh & Madison Building and leasing it to Polyclinic. Denny Onslow of Harbor Properties will discuss Link Apartments. John Teutsch of Teutsch Partners will give an overview of Harbor Wholesale Grocery's headquarters.
