A 63-year-old Port Angeles man was fatally gored in October 2010 by a 370-pound mountain goat on a trail in Olympic National Park.

Cobalt Mortgage recently added Lysa Catlin to the Kirkland office as a partner/loan originator. Catlin brings more than 17 years of mortgage experience to Cobalt. She was named a Five Star Mortgage Professional in 2009, 2010 and 2012. Cobalt has offices in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
Renton won a 2012 Vision 2040 Award from the Puget Sound Regional Council for the revitalization of Sunset Terrace. The city is redeveloping the public housing community by investing in transportation, stormwater control, mixed-income housing, and amenities such as parks and recreation. Creating “complete streets” and “green connections” are part of the plan. PSRC promotes growth, transportation and economic development in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties.
The International Council of Shopping Centers gave a silver Maxi award to Kemper Development Co. for The Bellevue Collection. The awards recognize marketing for retail properties. Jennifer Leavitt, VP of marketing, said Kemper has been focusing on social media for several seasons, with a web microsite, a printed and online Look Book, fashion events, QR codes, Facebook, Twitter and trend videos.
Lender Processing Services, a provider of technology, data and analytics to the mortgage and real estate industries that is based in Jacksonville. Fla., said it has an agreement with RentRange to offer rental property income data to mortgage servicers, investors and others involved in distressed housing. LPS will provide RentRange reports to clients seeking rent estimates for real estate-owned properties, and to others wanting values for properties based on rental income potential. It also provides historical trends and rates for specific addresses by ZIP codes and cities.
Broker and real estate agent Marti Reeder was named top salesman for home resales for the first two quarters of 2012 by the John L. Scott office in Kent/Covington. Reeder has been a full-time agent working for John L. Scott for almost eight years. She focuses on educating consumers through a website, blog and social media channels.
The second annual Successful Apartment Development for Maximum Profit and Minimal Risk conference will be Oct. 26 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle. The Seminar Group says that in spite of a sharp increase in building permits the local market could be heading for a housing shortage because so little rental housing has been built in the last four years. Mark Forgette has joined the Bellevue office of Kidder Mathews, specializing in Eastside office leasing and sales. Forgette was with Colliers' Bellevue office. Kidder has more than 200 brokers in nine offices in Washington, Oregon and California.
Dow Hotel Co., a hotel ownership, investment and management company, promoted three executives. Robert Levy is senior vice president of the Asset Development Division. He joined DHC in 2001 and will now oversee capital improvements, underwriting for new projects, property transitions and asset reviews. He also will handle brand relations. Randall King is vice president of corporate marketing and development. He also joined DHC in 2001. He will oversee revenue generation and work with equity partners on hotel revenue matters. David Fincannon is vice president of operations. He joined DHC in 2003 and now will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the DHC portfolio. DHC operates 12 hotels in the United States.
Several dozen King County Realtors, affiliates and family members will volunteer at the Cavanaugh Pond Natural Area on Friday, Oct. 12, to help Friends of the Cedar River Watershed with a restoration project. The Realtors Environmental Council will help control invasive vegetation and establish native forest in the 44-acre area east of Renton. CBRE said its Seattle and Portland teams brokered the sale of Axcess 15, a 202-unit apartment community in Portland. Holland Residential sold the project to Waterton Residential for $48.6 million, or $240,717 per unit. CBRE said in a press release that Axcess 15 is near Lloyd Center shopping complex and the MAX light rail system.
Sound Mental Health, a behavioral health services provider in King County, is assuming operations for two properties that house low income and disabled people. Building Changes, a nonprofit focused on homelessness, transferred management of Christopher Housing and Shirley Bridge Bungalows to SMH. Building Changes, formerly AIDS Housing WA, has shifted its focus to become a “systems change liaison.” Christopher Housing has properties in Kirkland, Renton and Kent. The Shirley Bridge Bungalows are in West Seattle. Both provide housing to people with multiple disabilities and needs.
