Keller Williams Realty

Five new agents have joined the Bellevue office of Keller Williams Realty to meet growing demand. The new agents are all beginning their real estate careers: Anil Kumar Dharmi Chand, Josh Crelencia, Amber Errickson, Brianna Everroad and Jose Mercado. The office now has 90 residential and commercial agents. Keller Williams, based in Austin, Texas, said it is the largest real estate franchise operation in the country. It has 700 offices and 80,000 agents in the U.S. and Canada. Keller Williams has 28 offices and 3,300 agents in the Northwest.

1918 Eighth Avenue

Boston Consulting Group recently signed a 7,195-square-foot lease at 1918 Eighth Ave., bringing the building to full occupancy. CBRE broker Owen Rice represented the owner, JP Morgan Chase. The building was completed in 2009. Developer Schnitzer West sold the 36-story tower to JP Morgan Chase for $350.5 million in 2011. Amazon.com signed a lease that year for 460,000 of the 668,000 square feet. NBBJ designed the building, and Sellen Construction was the general contractor. DCI Engineers provided structural and civil engineering services.

CBRE celebrates Earth Hour

Real estate brokerage CBRE said tenants in commercial property that it manages participated in the World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour 2013 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, as a call to reduce the impact of climate change. People in more than 150 countries switched off non-essential lights for one hour, including CBRE-managed properties in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Bucklin

Integra Realty Resources directors Greg Bucklin and John Nidecker earned the Appraisal Institute's MAI designation. MAI candidates must pass several tests and demonstrate their knowledge and experience. Bucklin has been in real estate valuation and consulting since 2001. He has been with Integra since 2007, when he joined as a senior analyst. Nidecker started his appraisal career in 2002, and he has been with Integra as a senior analyst since 2009.

BOMA

The Building Owners and Managers Association of Seattle/King County, CleanScapes and Seattle Public Utilities are taking applications for the 2013 Golden Dumpster Awards to reward commercial property owners for reducing solid waste, increasing recycling and composting, and educating tenants about the issue. This is the second year for the awards. Owners of properties in Seattle who are BOMA members can apply. They will be judged based on responses to an online survey about waste diversion, education and purchasing. Awards will be given in three categories: small (under 200,000 square feet); medium (200,001 square feet to 500,000 square feet); and large (over 500,000 square feet). Applications are due Aug. 1. NAIOP

Experts will discuss what office buildings might look like 10 or 20 years from now at the Washington chapter of NAIOP's 2013 Spring Seminar starting at 7 a.m. April 17 at the Westin Seattle. Three panels that include architects, developers and real estate experts will show how designing office space has changed and present local winning entries in NAIOP's Office Building of the Future, 2020 competition. Vulcan Real Estate

Two retailers — Oculus Eyecare and Lake Union Vision Clinic — have moved into South Lake Union spaced owned by Vulcan Real Estate. Oculus opened a 1,400-square-foot store on the bottom floor of the Borealis apartments at 740 Denny Way. The store will provide eyewear as well as exams. It will sell the first adjustable carbon fiber frame and frames crafted with wood from the bottom of the Mississippi River, Vulcan said. Lake Union Vision Clinic will open a branch this summer at 2200 Westlake. The clinic has locations in Bellevue, Kent, Auburn and West Seattle.

Opus Bank

Irvine, Calif.-based Opus Bank will open branches in Seattle and Tacoma in the third quarter of the year. The Seattle branch will be at 1411 Fourth St., where Tully's Coffee was previously located. The Tacoma location will be at 950 Pacific Ave., Suite 150 in the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce building. Opus has 20 locations in the region, but none in Seattle or Tacoma. It has more than 50 branches in California and Washington.
