Description The capacity of Tahoma High School is being expanded to accomodate 1,250 students. Project description: The additions and renovations project at Tahoma High School is designed to meet several goals:
The project will remodel 129,861 square feet of existing space and add 46,809 square feet of new space. Additions are mostly classroom space, with new locker rooms, kitchen, circulation space for elevator and stairs, and additional mechanical/electrical and storage spaces. Existing building interiors will be demolished to the structural walls, and a redesigned main building will provide a central circulation “street,” allowing access to student services, the library and commons. The original structure is a single-story building with CMU load-bearing walls and a flat, steel-framed roof. Remodeling will include new insulation, finishes, mechanical and electrical systems, and single-ply roofing. New structural additions will be single-story, with a steel structural frame, steel studs, masonry veneer exterior walls, gypsum wallboard, plaster veneer interior wall finish and a single-ply roofing system. |
