Mount Rainier road in need of $11.6M fix
About 10 miles of Stevens Canyon Road will be repaired starting in 2011; if federal funding is secured.

Stevens Canyon Road and its rock retaining walls and guardrails are settling. Pressure from snow and possibly subsurface water are causing the walls to push outward.
HALF OF THE 19-mile Stevens Canyon Road in Mount Rainier National Park needs to be repaired. If federal funds come through, park officials plan to begin the $11.6 million job in 2011.
