Áegis Assisted Living

Áegis Assisted Living opened its newest community in Ventura, Calif. The new facility consists of 84 units and is staffed and designed with a focus on residents with Alzheimer's disease. The Redmond-based company plans to build 20-25 more communities in the Western U.S. over the next five years.

Berger/Abam

Bruce Ostbo was recently promoted to Grade VIII senior project manager at Berger/Abam Engineers in Federal Way. Ostbo has concentrated on concrete and steel structures design and the development of test plans and parameters. He is also a certified diver and a member of Berger’s underwater inspection team. Vern Nielsen has been promoted to Grade VI project engineer. Nielsen has nine years of experience with civil and structural engineering for public works and government facilities. His expertise includes stormwater drainage systems; transit facilities; and the design of steel, concrete, timber and masonry structures. Marie Do has been promoted to Grade V project engineer. Do has six years of civil engineering experience specializing in hydraulic engineering, water resources planning, and civil design. Her civil engineering experience includes design and preparation of plans and specifications, construction site inspection, retaining walls, hydraulic structures, roads and site work.

GeoEngineers

GeoEngineers of Redmond announced the promotion of Paul Robinette to Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Analyst. Robinette has five years of experience as a scientist in environmental, geotechnical and geologic projects, with an extensive background in data collection and management. His expertise is in the collection, management, analysis, interpretation and presentation of spatial data. Robinette is developing custom GIS interfaces to address clients' specific needs.

KPFF

Joseph Schlechten, a structural project manager with KPFF Consulting Engineers, has joined the firm’s Tacoma office. He has designed, managed and supervised construction of a wide variety of civil and structural engineering projects over the last 30 years. His areas of experience include industrial, marine and floating concrete structures, container yards and loading facilities, and bridges and highways.

Schlecten is working on a hangar relocation at the King County airport and the Proctor Street Bridge rehabilitation for the city of Tacoma. His previous experience includes the enclosure and foundations for Boeing’s new Transonic Wind Tunnel and the fast-track reconfiguration at the Light Structures Fabrication & Assembly Facility at Boeing’s Auburn site.

Reid Middleton

Richard Helser has joined Reid Middleton’s Portland office as a senior structural engineer. Helser designs structural engineering projects and manages client/contractor relations and the production of structural calculations, drawings and project budgets.

Helser has 20 years of experience in structural design, engineering, project management and construction. Most recently, he worked at KPFF Consulting Engineers in Portland as a project/structural engineer. Before that he worked as a senior engineer at Faye Bernstein & Associates-Structural Engineers in San Francisco.

Glosten

David Halliday, a software and network systems specialist, has joined Glosten Associates, a Seattle-based consulting engineering firm serving the marine industry. Halliday is responsible for maintaining and enhancing Glosten’s computing facilities to support design development, analysis and research. Prior to joining Glosten, Halliday worked as a lab manager at Microsoft, where he managed 900 computer systems. He also owned and operated Grey Matter, a computer store that assembled and sold PC hardware to small businesses plus consulted and trained computer users.

Symonds

Ross Stolen recently joined Symonds Consulting Engineers as CADD manager. Prior to joining the firm, Stolen worked with Auto Scan, Inc., providing drafting and design services as a consultant. Symonds Consulting provides civil engineering and land surveying services throughout the West.

Olympic

Olympic Associates Co. announced the hiring of Jessica Hickey, senior construction manager. Hickey will provide project and construction management support to King County for the new Regional Communications Emergency Coordination Center in Renton. She will also participate in Olympic’s business development efforts.

Olympic also recently added the following employees: Kathy Burnaman, project coordinator; George Faler, construction manager; Kurt Merkle, construction manager; Sam Packard, project manager; and Eric Richter, administrative assistant.

Burnaman currently works with the Port Blakely Communities, which includes infrastructure planning and construction for the Issaquah Highlands Development project. Prior to joining Olympic, she worked for Pine Street Development on Pacific Place and the Fifth and Pine Building. Faler brings 27 years of experience and will provide exterior building envelope consulting and construction observation for building envelope and structural work. Merkle oversees quality control/assurance, owner's representative, constructability and value engineering services. Packard provides construction and construction phase services including project management, scheduling, value engineering/constructability review, budget development, feasibility studies, schedule review and claims analysis. Richter provides comprehensive office, administrative and marketing support.

Perteet

Peter De Boldt has joined Perteet Engineering as a senior project manager for Transportation Design. He has extensive experience in arterial and highway design, transit systems, signal system design, traffic analysis and project management. He has led multidisciplinary teams in the design and construction of major roadway projects throughout the Puget Sound. Recent projects include Paine Field Boulevard in Everett, the Bellevue Transportation Center, West Lake Sammamish Parkway in Redmond and the 28th/24th Avenue South arterial in SeaTac
