Pacland

Holly Patterson and Mark Papich recently joined Pacland as designers in the Seattle and Olympia offices, respectively. Pacland provides site development services, including site planning, land-use/permitting, civil engineering, transportation infrastructure design and landscape architecture.

AMEC

Tyler McCormick and Leslie Donley recently joined the Kirkland office of the international engineering firm AMEC, adding to the company's materials testing and marketing expertise in Washington. Additionally geologist Keith Schembs, a 13-year employee, has been named manager of AMEC's office in Tacoma.

McCormick is the new materials-testing manager for Washington operations; and Donley is marketing coordinator. McCormick is experienced in laboratory and field testing of soils, concrete and asphalt, and with field logging of test holes and monitoring-well installation for geotechnical and environmental projects.

Donley has more than 12 years experience as marketing coordinator for architecture and engineering firms. She has bachelor's degrees from California State University in Fresno and a public relations program certificate from the University of Washington. She is a member of the Seattle chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services and a former member of the American Marketing Association in Reno.

Schembs' geotechnical expertise includes commercial structures, roads, bridges, pipelines, municipal waste disposal projects and geologic hazards. He is a registered professional geologist and a member of the Association of Engineering Geologists and the American Institute of Professional Geologists. McCormick recently relocated from Farmington, N.M., where he managed AMEC's materials testing since 1998.

KPFF Consulting Engineers

Wilson Hu has been named associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers. Hu, a structural project manager, has 10 years experience working on commercial, transit and curtain wall projects.

Hu is the prime consultant project manager for the Eastgate Park-and-Ride Expansion, part of King County Metro’s multi-storied structured parking program. The expansion increases parking capacity to 1,700 stalls with a 1,400-stall parking structure. Hu works directly with King County, and leads a team of 12 subconsultants. He is also project manager for the Tzu Chi Foundation’s Tan Tzu Medical Center in Taiwan. Upon completion, it will be the largest base-isolated building in the world. His previous work includes Bentall’s Five Newport and The Summit in Bellevue, and the curtain wall design of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and the John Paul Getty Center in Los Angeles.

Established in 1960, KPFF is a civil and structural engineering firm with 10 offices nationwide.

T.E., Inc.

T.E., Inc., a mechanical and electrical consulting firm, announced the promotion of Joel G. Mortenson, to principal. He has been serving as the assistant department head for three years.

Paal K. Ryan has also been promoted to principal. He has held the mechanical department head position for two years.

Merritt+Pardini

Merritt+Pardini Architects announced Maria Resende has joined the firm. Resende is a licensed architect in both New York and Washington, and has 10 years experience on educational, institutional, hospitality, commercial and residential projects. These projects include the Tulalip Casino and the Microsoft Millenium Office Park in Washington, the Smart Money magazine offices in New York and the Hotel Cheyenne complex in France. Her first project assignment for Merritt+Pardini is the Tacoma Convention and Trade Center.

Emick Howard & Seibert

Emick Howard & Seibert added Mancong Lin as a project architect. Lin will work on a variety of financial institution and corporate projects for the firm.

Lin has completed a range of projects including commercial, industrial, multi-family residential and health care. She has been involved in all aspects of project management and design, including programming, planning, design, and construction documentation. Previously, Lin worked at GGLO, TRA, and YNA and Associates.

Weber + Thompson

Weber + Thompson announced the promotion of Catherine Benotto to associate. She is an architect, landscape architect, master planner and is LEED accredited.

Benotto leads the planning team, working on master-planned communities in Kenmore, Thurston County and Snoqualamie. She is the project manager of Village Green, a 290-home community in Issaquah Highlands, and is currently working on two green buildings -- Town Hall at the Village Green and Gregg's Green Lake.

Bucher, Willis & Ratliff

Bucher, Willis & Ratliff announced Carl Johnson has relocated to Seattle from the firm’s corporate headquarters in Kansas City, Mo. Johnson is a principal with BWR and has been with the firm 22 years. Johnson will participate in ongoing and new transportation projects, and will lead the effort to expand the office’s services to include water resource management.

He has extensive experience in design of wastewater treatment facilities, sanitary sewer collection systems and evaluations, and water distribution systems. In addition, he is experienced with flood plain and storm water management, hydrology and hydraulics, and environmental review. Johnson is managing the SR-522 PS&E for the city of Kenmore, and has a lead role in Phase III of the Valley Mall Boulevard Extension project in Union Gap.

Triad Associates

Rick Tomkins has joined Triad Associates as director of engineering. Over 19 years, he worked as a construction manager for a multi-family developer and then as an engineer at a local consulting firm where he became co-owner. His recent experience includes Talus for Intracorp, Redmond Ridge for CamWest, Millenium Corporate Park for Bentall U.S., and Lincoln Way Apartments for the Intercommunity Housing Group. He will use his residential and commercial work experience along with his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington to steer Triad’s 20-person engineering department.

Also joining Triad is Carl Sorenson, project surveyor. With more than 30 years of experience, he has expertise in subdivision surveys for single-family and multi-family communities, and condominiums. In the last five years, he surveyed over 50 residential projects in King and Snohomish counties. His current work includes St. Andrews Group’s affordable housing community and Intracorp’s Information Center, both at Talus.

HBB

HBB, a mechanical engineering firm, announced that Paul Songe-Moller has been named an associate. Songe-Moller, an engineer with 20 years experience, has served a variety of educational, local government, housing, health care and commercial clients. Recent projects include work at North Kitsap School District, the Culinary Arts Center at South Seattle Community College, the Island County Annex, and the Salvation Army's new Communications Center.

Vincent Cheng recently earned his LEED professional accreditation. His recent projects include Lucille Umbarger K-8 school for the Burlington-Edison School District, three schools for the Blaine School District, the library remodel for Gray's Harbor College, and the Center for Families at Edmonds Community College.

HBB is a 22-year-old Seattle firm, providing mechanical engineering, energy and cost studies, and commissioning services, for public and private sector clients.
