Jim Frazier joined Saltmine as a senior account executive of Saltmine On Site, a technical staffing division of the company. Saltmine provides Web design, application development, systems integration and technical staffing services.
Key Technology appointed Ronald W. Burgess senior vice president and chief financial officer. Burgess replaces Phyllis Best, who is leaving to pursue other career opportunities. Craig T. J. Miller was appointed general manager of the worldwide aftermarket. Gordon Wicher was named general manager of the company's work in the Americas and Asia. Key Technology is headquartered in Walla Walla, and designs and manufactures process automation systems for the food processing and industrial markets.

Seattle-based Merrill Gardens, owner of 66 assisted-living retirement communities in 14 states, will break ground on Merrill Gardens at Queen Anne at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The 225-unit project the largest in company history is on Fourth Avenue North between Aloha and Valley streets, site of the former Seattle School District headquarters. At the ceremony, Merrill Gardens will present a total of $44,000 to three groups: the Queen Anne Community Center Senior Program, the Queen Anne Help Line and Seattle Housing Resources Group. Runberg Architecture Group of Seattle designed Merrill Gardens at Queen Anne, and SRM Development of Spokane is the contractor and an investment partner. Project cost is $37 million. Construction is to be done in 2006.
