Herrera Environmental Consultants promoted Tim Abbe to principal river and coastal geomorphologist. Abbe joined Herrera four years ago, and has worked on geomorphology, large scale river restoration and engineered log jams.

Destination design firm Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo has hired Steven Samuelson as senior interior designer and Robin Goddard as corporate public relations manager. Project designer Shannon Suess and project architect Susan Frieson have recently joined the Seattle office from the Newport Beach, Calif., office. Samuelson's experience includes hospitality, retail, commercial and residential projects. Goddard has 10 years of public relations and journalism experience. She has worked as a journalist for Wired News and the San Francisco Chronicle, and in public relations for Random House. Suess worked on the Hilton Hotel in SeaTac, the Mondello Hotel in Fresno, Calif., and the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, Hotel and Casino in the Bahamas. Frieson has been involved in The Mansion at MGM Grand, Las Vegas, The Jumeirah Beach Residence, an urban residential resort community involving 30 high-rise apartment buildings in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Water Tower Place, a major retail renovation in Chicago.
Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects has hired five people. Brian Slick and Jin Lee joined the Seattle office. Slick has 20 years experience and is project manager for the 112th Avenue mixed-use complex in Bellevue, slated to begin construction in the spring of 2007. Lee, an intern architect, has 16 years experience and joined the teams working on the Rollin Street condominiums in Seattle and the 112th Avenue project. The Portland office has added Ian Mickelson, William Taylor, Eric Nielssen, Pamela Brown, Julie Mast and Debbie Laughlin. Mickelson has 15 years experience in higher education facilities, dental/medical offices and sustainable design. He is working on family housing in Portland's Pearl District. Taylor is an intern architect and 3-D specialist and is working on modeling and rendering a resort in Maui. Nielssen, intern architect, is part of the architectural team working on assisted-living facilities. Brown, an interior designer, is working on multiple tenant improvement projects. Mast, an interior designer with 16 years experience, is also working on tenant improvement projects. Laughlin is an interior designer with 13 years experience, who is working on the interiors and leasing offices for resort and timeshare projects. Other additions are Quin Thompson, Mary Watkins and Amy Green, intern architects; Julie Staton Ellis, librarian; Susana Rose, interior designer; Matthew Lhotka, drafter; and Gary Haymlan, administrative staff.
Brown and Caldwell recently hired seven employees in its Seattle office. Terry Gatlin is a mechanical engineer and Bruce Johnston is a principal engineer in the instrumentation and control group. Shannon Rauch is a senior business consulting practice engineer, with a background in electrical engineering. Shawn Shirey joined the civil/infrastructure group and Christopher Muller is an Engineer II with the wastewater group. Joining office administration are Melanie Thullen as the Washington HR/administration manager and Maya Beal as a senior project coordinator.
Doug Demers has joined Callison's Seattle office to lead the workplace studio, which plans and designs corporate interiors. Demers' primary responsibilities include studio management, strategy, resource development and business development. He has 24 years experience and was recently a managing principal with Perkins+Will's Seattle office.
