Coffman Engineers announced
Steve Ricks has joined the staff as a senior project manager with 20 years of consulting engineering experience. Ricks' projects have included schools, universities, commercial, high-rise, industrial and health care buildings. The firm also hired
Jaidee Forman in the Seattle office as a lighting designer. She is a graduate of the Art Institute of Seattle with a degree in fine arts, and has a background in architecture and interior design. Prior to her career in design, she was a multi-disciplinary dance and theater professional.
Tacoma-based BLRB Architects recently promoted the following staff members to leadership roles:
Liz Chambers, associate, marketing director;
Doug Jason, associate;
Jim Kuhlman, associate;
Kay Munson, senior associate; and
Dave Pool, senior associate. Chambers has more than seven years of experience in architecture marketing. In addition to leading BLRB's marketing team, Chambers serves on the Landmarks Preservation Commission in Tacoma. Jason has been with BLRB for 18 years, providing construction administration services for education projects. He is working on the Mount Rainier High School replacement for Highline School District and several roofing projects for the University Place School District. Kuhlman joined BLRB in 1990 and brings more than 24 years of experience to his roles as project architect and construction administrator. He recently completed the Capital High School addition/modernization project for Olympia School District and has begun work on the Curtis Junior High School replacement for University Place School District. Munson has worked at BLRB for nearly 23 years. She leads human resources efforts, payroll and a variety of project management and contractual tasks. Pool joined BLRB in January 2005 as a project architect. He has worked on the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center and the renovation and addition of Tacoma's Stadium High School and is working on Bellevue School District's Newport Height Elementary School and the Pacific Plaza project in downtown Tacoma.
William Armour has joined the Tacoma office of KPFF Consulting Engineers. Armour has designed and managed a variety of civil engineering projects in the last 16 years. His areas of experience include industrial, residential, institutional, commercial, military and transportation projects for clients including the Washington State Department of Transportation, the U.S. Navy and the Port of Seattle.
Magnusson Klemencic Associates has named its senior associate promotions for 2007. Promoted were
Scott Erickson, Pat Harrigan, Adam Ludwig, David Rhoades, Tom Rines and
Mike Valley. Erickson, a member of MKA's hotel/housing specialist group, has been promoted to senior associate. His current projects include the 870,000-square-foot 2055 Avenue of the Stars residential project in Los Angeles and the four residential towers for the 5.5-million-square-foot City Creek Center in Salt Lake City. Harrigan, a contributor to MKA's aviation specialist group, has also been promoted to senior associate. He is a steel specialist, having worked as a fabricator for 17 years before becoming an engineer. He currently manages the North Concourse Expansion for the San Jose International Airport in California and the Factory of the Future at Boeing Everett's 40-22 building. Ludwig, also promoted to senior associate, is managing the retail portions of the City Creek Center, as well as the Anaheim Garden Walk in California. Rhoades, a civil site engineer, has more than 20 years' experience. His current projects include the Everett Riverfront redevelopment and the master plan of the Village at Galisteo Basin Preserve, a sustainable community in Santa Fe, N.M. Rines, one of MKA's wood and exposed structure specialists, has worked on high-end resorts such as the Montage Deer Valley in Utah; the Suncadia Resort Hotel in Roslyn, the Bald Mountain Lodge in Sun Valley and the Montage Los Cabos in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico. Valley has special expertise in seismic design and development of codes and standards. His projects, often requiring seismic considerations, include the recently completed Bellevue City Hall and Seattle's new Fire Station 10 emergency operations center, under construction on Yesler Way.

Jane Hendricks has joined SRG's Seattle office as a principal. A LEED-accredited architect with more than 25 years of professional experience, she has a background in higher education facilities, public and academic libraries and other public projects. She is leading the firm's campus master planning efforts for South Puget Sound Community College.
The Blueline Group promoted
Ken Lauzen to principal. Lauzen joined Blueline in 2004 and has been managing private residential and commercial land development projects from land acquisition through construction.
Group Mackenzie promoted
Jeff Humphreys to associate principal and 13 others to associate. Humphreys is working on the Keizer City Hall and Police building project in Keizer, Ore. Architects
Barb Anderson, Rob Kirkman, Scott Moore, Ross Sanders, Andrew Schafer, Adam Solomonson, Kelly Thelen and
Megan Tremain were promoted to associate. Civil engineer

Josh McDowell, a project manger and structural engineer, has been made a stockholder of the firm.
Sparling hired
Lori Belknap and
Amanda Clark as administrative assistants. With backgrounds in office management, executive administrative support and client service, they will provide administrative support for the firm's Lynnwood office.
Apex Engineering added
Ken Swindaman as a principal. Swindaman has experience as a licensed land surveyor in the Puget Sound area. He serves as state president for the Land Surveyors' Association of Washington and has 15 years of surveying and business ownership experience.
LRS Architects promoted
Daniel Drake to an associate and promoted
Michelle Startt to an interiors director with current interiors director
Britt Brewer. LRS also added
Tom Houha as a project manager. Drake joined LRS in 1996 and worked on a wide variety of the firm's larger projects. He is assigned to the Ron Tonkin Family of Dealerships, and Harsch Investments projects for LRS. Startt will be managing the firm's interior design studio in conjunction with Brewer, who joined LRS in 2005. Startt has been with LRS since 1998 and was promoted to Associate in 2005. Houha joined LRS with 23 years of experience designing a variety of project types. He is the LRS project manager for the Sparks Senior Housing development in Nevada for Cascade Living.
Murase Associates' Seattle office recently hired
Liz Taylor and
Eric Higbee as landscape designers. Taylor has a background in graphic design and graphics experience. Higbee will work in each phase of the design process, including model construction, digital 3-D rendering, site analysis, GIS mapping and construction documentation. Murase's Portland office recently hired
Joe Percival, as principal, and
Brian Martin and
Perry Pfister as landscape designer. Percival returned to Murase, where he worked from 1986 to 1995. He has 28 years of experience in public and private projects, including medical facilities, transit-oriented developments, civic open spaces, mixed-used and education projects. Martin has experience in planting plans, irrigation, on-structure landscapes and green roofs for health care facilities, sport fields, multi-family housing and education projects.
Perry Pfister joined as a landscape designer and is working on Salem Regional Health Services and PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center.
