DKA hired three employees.
Dan Brown was hired as project manager,
Zack Adams was hired as IT/CAD manager and
Megan Hancock was hired as interior designer. Brown is working with Seattle Public Schools on the new school at South Shore. Adams has 10 years of experience in systems management and CAD expertise. He is working on the OSU Black Cultural Center. Hancock has six years of experience. She is working on the University of Washington Tower tenant improvements, First AME building improvements and renovation of the Redmond Library.
Berger/Abam Engineers hired
Paul Korsmo as project manager and
Mandana Ashti in its public works and transportation group at the downtown Seattle office. Korsmo has more than 25 years of experience in environmental planning, studies, permitting and impact analysis. He has worked on transportation, water resources, water and oil pipelines, electrical transmission facilities and major energy facilities. Ashti is a recent graduate with a focus in structural engineering for transportation facilities. Her recent projects include the West Powerhouse Road Bridge replacement project for Yakima County and Lincoln Avenue grade separation for the Port of Tacoma.
Sparling hired
Colin Davis as audiovisual project designer in its technology studio. Davis has more than five years of experience in music delivery, working for companies like Playnetwork, Inc., DMX Music and AEI Music. Davis is working on projects for University of Washington School of Business, and Everett Community College Distance Learning Facility. Sparling also hired
Anna Galgana as human resources assistant and
Lan Nguyen and
Nicole Haggen as administrative assistants. Galgana will provide administrative and project assistance for the HR team and is involved in recruiting. Nguyen and Haggen provide reception and administrative support, Nguyen based in the Lynnwood office and Haggen in Seattle.
Freiheit & Ho Architects promoted
Thomas L. Spader to associate principal. Spader joined the firm as a designer in 1994, was promoted to associate in 1997, and to senior associate in 2002. His recent projects include Maple Valley Commons Shopping Center, Panera Bread restaurants, Jack in the Box restaurants and Payless ShoeSource stores.
ESM Consulting Engineers hired Craig Krueger as senior planner. Krueger most recently was chief planning officer at McNaughton Group in Edmonds. Prior to that, he worked on the Highlands Master Planned Community. He is a community trustee for the King County group of the Cascade Land Conservancy.

The environmental planning, design and construction services firm Brown and Caldwell hired five engineers in its Seattle office.
David Bergdolt was hired infrastructure practice leader. He has more than 14 years of experience and specializes in large-scale municipal infrastructure projects.
Kurt Marx joined the water resources group as a senior engineer, bringing more than 10 years of experience in water quality assessments and environmental engineering projects for municipal clients.
Darold Woodward was hired as a supervising engineer in the electrical and process automation services group. Woodward has more than 18 years of experience designing and implementing electrical and control systems for water, wastewater, pump stations and hydroelectric generation facilities.
Vicki Zeledon also joined the wastewater group and
Jacob Cox joined the electrical process and automation services group.
Walker Macy promoted two employees to principal, one to associate principal and five to associate.
Mauricio Villarreal and
Eric Bode were promoted to principals. Villarreal focuses on contemporary landscapes in urban settings and Bode specializes in educational facilities and public open space projects.
Charles Brucker was promoted to associate principal.

Stephen Ray were promoted to associates. Payne specializes in innovative and site-specific landscapes that energize urban life, McCann specializes in managing large-scale sustainable projects in urban settings, Pirie focuses on environmentally sensitive campus planning and urban design, and Ray has expertise in project management and technical review skills.
WHPacific's Olympia office recently hired or promoted six employees.
Michael Pawlak is the new operations manager. His primary focus is management of office resources and he has more than 30 years of transportation engineering and planning experience. Pawlak's addition makes way for former operations manager
