Pacific Northwest Bancorp

David H. Straus has been appointed to president and chief operating officer at Pacific Northwest Bancorp. He will replace Patrick M. Fahey who will continue as chairman of the board and chief executive officer. The bank also promoted Joseph H. Ward to executive vice president and chief credit officer. Ward previously was senior vice president and senior commercial credit officer at the bank. In addition, Chris Rasmussen, president of Pacific Northwest Bank-Oregon, was named to oversee insurance and investment products for the bank, and George Brace, executive vice president, will head activities for the bank's branch system and commercial banking teams in Washington.

United Way of King County

James Prunty has been elected to the United Way of King County board of directors. Prunty is regional president for Wells Fargo Community Banking for Washington. He will serve a three-year term.

Digilex Law Center

Harry Little has established Digilex Law Center in Seattle to assist start-up, emerging and established companies with technology investments. Little has 18 years of experience representing technology companies as in-house corporate and general counsel and senior executive. The company offers collaborative communication systems, supply chain management, accounting systems, e-commerce, Internet tools, application service providers, software development tools, and computer aided design systems. Ogden Murphy Wallace

Ogden Murphy Wallace named Don Black, Jeff Dunbar and J. Todd Tracy members in its Seattle office. The firm also named Paul S. Kube and Brian A. Walker members in its Wenatchee office.

First Heritage Bank

Jane Musoke was named assistant vice president and commercial lender at First Heritage Bank. First Heritage Bank is privately owned, with branches in Snohomish, Monroe, Marysville, Arlington and Everett.

Portland State University

Portland State University's School of Business Administration named Kristi Yuthas as the first recipient of the Swigert professorship in information systems. The professorship is endowed by the Swigert Foundation to support a faculty member in information systems. The university also named Melissa Appleyard and Pam Tierney as its first recipients of Ames professorships in management of innovation technology. The renewable appointments are for a three-year period.

Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson

Joseph A. Sakay joined Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson as a principal. Sakay's practice focuses on commercial litigation, creditor rights and bankruptcy matters. Previously, Sakay served as a law clerk to Judge Richard P. Matsch in Denver.

Allstate

Pat Sprague is a new exclusive agent for Allstate in Seattle. Sprague's office is located at 5201 University Ave. N.E. and offers auto, property, commercial and life insurance.

Noble House Hotels and Resorts

Noble House Hotels and Resorts named Marc Pujalet chief marketing officer and Tom Kovacs corporate director of catering. Pujalet was formerly with the Seattle Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Kovacs was executive chef for Commander's Palace and Brennan's Restaurant. They will be based at the company's Kirkland headquarters.

Marshall

Joseph Hobbs was named to the project management team at Marshall, a GIS and remote sensing solutions firm based in Olympia. Hobbs was most recently vice president of GeoIT/KEMA Consulting in Englewood, Colo., and was previously vice president of Apex Data Services in Herndon, Va.

Pacific Northwest Good Works Awards

Brenneke School of Massage, ZAAZ, Burton Snowboard Co. and Ivar's Restaurants won the Pacific Northwest Good Works Awards. Amgen/Immunex Corp., Anthony's Restaurants, Columbia Sportswear, PCC Natural Markets, St. Clouds Food & Spirits and United Parcel Service were given honorable mention. The awards, sponsored by KCTS Television, Lane Powell Spears Lubersky, Frank Russell Co. and U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, are presented to companies that make innovative and extraordinary efforts to improve the region's quality of life.
