Seattle-based Hydroacoustic Technology, a fisheries hydroacoustics company, hired John Ehrenberg as president and chief executive officer. He replaces Bruce Ransom who will continue with HTI as vice president. Ehrenberg was the director of the information, electronics and avionics technology organization at Boeing.
Lynnwood-based Pacific Crest Savings Bank promoted Sheryl Nilson from president to chief executive officer. She replaces long-time CEO John Fairchild who will continue as chairman of the board. Nilson and Fairchild co-founded the company in 1984.
Chief Bankruptcy Judge Karen A. Overstreet has been reappointed to a second 14-year term on the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Washington. Overstreet was first appointed in 1994. She was the first woman to serve on the federal bankruptcy bench in either of Washington's two judicial districts and became chief bankruptcy judge in 2005.
The Seattle Aquarium Society named Ted Ackerley as board president and Stuart Rolfe as board chairman. Ackerley and Rolfe were co-chairs of the $41 million New Currents Capital Campaign. Ackerley is founder and co-manager of Ackerley Partners and Rolfe is owner and president of Wright Hotels, Inc.

Lovsted-Worthington, a Seattle-based insurance brokerage, hired Linda Schneider as operations manager and Tom Pangborn as director of construction operations. Schneider has worked in the insurance industry since 1971 and was an independent consultant in Seattle for 10 years. She will merge operations for the new Chehalis location to existing Seattle and Bothell offices. Pangborn has 17 years experience servicing the construction industry and has consulted on insurance programs for the last 11 years.
The Tacoma Public Utility Board promoted William Gaines to director of Tacoma Public Utilities. Gaines was superintendent and replaces Mark Crisson, who led TPU for 15 years and is retiring. Gaines has been at TPU since 2006. TPU includes Tacoma Power, Tacoma Water and Tacoma Rail.

Tacoma-based Rusty George Creative, a marketing and advertising firm, hired new staff. Kathryn Schwarz is an account manager, Sandy Roberts is a production designer, Mathea Braatne is an account manager, Sarah Mickelson is a receptionist and Matthew Stoffel is a designer specializing in digital design and programming.
GMI, a provider of global market intelligence solutions, hired Dave Williamson as executive vice president and general counsel. Williamson has 20 years experience in legal and business affairs, and worked at Loudeye Corp. GMI is based in Mercer Island.
The Rural Development Institute, an international organization based in Seattle, has been shortlisted for the $1 million 2007 Alcan Prize for Sustainability by Alcan and the International Business Leaders Forum. The prize recognizes outstanding contributions to the goal of economic, environmental and social sustainability by nonprofit and civil organizations. All shortlisted organizations will receive an Alcan Training Grant for $15,000. There are 10 shortlisted organizations chosen internationally.
The Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development selected Gabriele Schwinghammer of FTI International Limited as chief trade representative in Europe. She will help support the state's strategy to encourage foreign companies to locate in Washington and will provide export assistance for Washington businesses seeking new markets in Europe. Schwinghammer is based in Munich.
