Portland-based Provenance Hotels announced that President Bashar Wali on May 29 will step down to pursue other ventures. Wali will be replaced by Katherine Durant, the company's current CEO and chair, and founder Gordon Sondland will assume the role of chair. Wali has been with Provenance for 15 years and will continue as a senior advisor. The company also promoted 20-year veteran Klaudio Simic to senior vice president of operations, and hired Ernest Glidden as CFO and Ralph Aruzza as chief marketing officer. Glidden was a senior vice president of operations finance for Caesars Entertainment. Aruzza was executive vice president and chief sales and marketing officer at Belmond. Provenance owns, develops and manages independent hotels, with a portfolio of 14 properties in Portland; Seattle; Tacoma; Palm Springs, California; New Orleans; Nashville; Boston; and Stillwater, Minnesota.
National discount retailer Dollar General opened its first store in Washington state: at 4 N. Jacobson Road in Cathlamet, Wahkiakum County. The company said it plans to open additional stores in Washington and has six stores under construction. The DJC reported last year that Dollar General was building a store in Centralia, Lewis County, and was seeking permits for a store in Ocean Shores, Grays Harbor County.
ThePlateFund raised another $2 million to help in-need restaurant workers in King County with one-time payments of $500. The fund has now raised $6 million to aid 12,000 workers who have lost jobs and income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund was created by the Schultz Family Foundation in partnership with #allinseattle, Seattle Foundation and UpTogether. Donations can be made at http://www.theplatefund.com.

Vancouver-based ZoomInfo appointed Keith Enright to its board. Enright is chief privacy officer at Google. He has been a data privacy expert for nearly 20 years, with stints at Macy's, Limited Brands and IBM Business Consulting Services. ZoomInfo sells access to its database of business people and companies to sales, marketing and recruiting professionals.
Seattle-based Washington Federal Bank says it has accepted more than 5,000 requests for funding through the CARES Act Paycheck Protection Program. These SBA loans are designed to keep small businesses viable and their employees paid. As of Tuesday, the bank had approved over $480 million in Paycheck Protection Loans with another $195 million in the application process.
San Francisco-based Frontline Foods has expanded with chapters in 41 cities, including Seattle. The nonprofit was created to organize meal deliveries from local restaurants to health care workers on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic. In mere weeks, the national program has raised over $1.6 million and partnered with over 125 restaurants to serve over 50 hospitals. Beaverton, Oregon-based shoe and apparel giant Nike is promoting Ann Hebert to vice president and general manager of North America. Hebert is a 25-year veteran of Nike and is currently vice president of global sales. She will assume her new role on June 1, succeeding long-time executive Tom Peddie, who is retiring.
Benchmark Litigation last month named Summit Law Group as the Washington Law Firm of the Year. Also, Benchmark in October recognized Summit as one of nine firms “highly recommended” for commercial litigation in Washington and one of three “highly recommended” firms for labor and employment litigation in Washington. Bellevue-based Aegis Living and the Clark Family Foundation launched Seattle Seniors Strong, a $100,000 community-match campaign to support homeless and homebound seniors. The campaign is dedicated to two area organizations: Sound Generations and the Pike Market Senior Center. It will match all donations by businesses or individuals dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000 for each organization, through May 31. Donations can be made at SeattleSeniorsStrong.com. Aegis is a provider of assisted-living and memory care services. Aegis founder and CEO Dwayne Clark established the Clark Family Foundation to benefit the elderly and youth.
Seattle-based Qumulo won Data Storage Company of the Year in the 2020 Data Breakthrough Awards. Qumulo provides hybrid cloud file storage. The awards program honors excellence in data technologies, services, companies and products. The inaugural program attracted more than 1,200 nominations from across the globe.
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho-based Hecla Mining Co. planned to restart operations yesterday at its Casa Berardi underground gold mine in western Quebec, Canada, after the government of Quebec last month suspended mining operations in the province to fight the COVID-19 outbreak. Hecla says it has no known cases of COVID-19 at any of its operations.
