Sally Narodick has been elected to the board of directors of the Washington Research Foundation. Narodick was previously CEO of Apex Learning and was chairman and CEO of Edmark Corp. Narodick currently sits on the boards of Puget Sound Energy, Penford Corp., Solutia and Click2Learn. She is also a trustee of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Chad Mackay was named vice president of business operations for Mackay Restaurant Group. He was previoulsy a consultant in business and technology to Fortune 500 companies. Mackay Restaurant Group runs three El Gaucho restaurants in Seattle, Portland and Tacoma and the waterfront Seafood Grill in Seattle. The company is run by his father, Paul Mackay.
Ellen Hansen was named development director at Seattle's Cancer Lifeline. Hansen will direct the organization’s fundraising plan. Hansen's background includes director of community affairs for Northwest Harvest, director of public affairs for King 5, and division manager for King County Records and Elections. Cancer Lifeline is a not-for-profit organization providing emotional support, information and community resource services for cancer patients and their families, co-workers and friends.
Saint Martin's College of Lacey named Amy Gillespie as its new director of campus and residence life. She replaces Jeromy Koffler, who accepted a post at the University of Portland earlier this year. Gillespie joined the Saint Martin's staff as assistant director of campus life in 2001. Before coming to Saint Martin's, Gillespie was coordinator of the Center for Leadership Development at the University of Montana.
Laurie Cullen has joined the core clinical faculty at Bastyr Center for Natural Health. Cullen is a 1998 graduate of Bastyr University and most recently was a faculty member at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland.
Providence Hospice of Seattle is looking for volunteers. The hospice program services patients and families throughout King and South Snohomish Counties. Volunteers offer time and talents in patient care, grief support services, comfort therapy, special projects, transition needs and office support. The Kitsap Regional Economic Development Council honored Dick Hayes and Mark Salo for their contributions to the council. Hayes, executive director of Kitsap Transit, is recognized for his strategic vision of public transit within the county and for creating relationships necessary to achieve it. Salo, of Apanage, is recognized for creating the Twelve Trees Business Park north of Poulsbo.
Chris Marr, a member and former chairman of the state transportation commission, was appointed to the Washington State University board or regents and Craig Cole, a Bellingham business leader, was named to the University of Washington board of regents. Phil Sharpe and Peggy Zoro were named trustees at WSU. Sharpe has been on the board at Whatcom Community College and was special counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources. Zoro is an executive at Whidbey Island Bank.
The Women's University Club named new officers and trustees. Karen Smith was named president-elect, Joyce Crosby secretary, Doris Ray publications trustee, Judy Ostrow membership trustee, MaryLou Block literature trustee, Lois Constantine dining room trustee, Ruth Hansing arts and gardens trustee, and Letitia Fong board member. The Women's University Club was founded in 1914 to promote educational, cultural and social activities for college-educated women.
Lori Stutsman has opened Extra Mile Marketing. Stutsman was most recently executive vice president of marketing and customer service at Mackie Designs. She has held previous positions at Paccar and FreeInternet.com. The firm's Web site is at www.extramilemarketing.com.
Statewide Energy Systems has opened an office in Beverly, Mass. The Mukilteo-based company was granted exclusive rights by Great Lakes Window of Toledo, Ohio, to market UniFrame windows in the Boston area. Statewide also operates an office in Vancouver.
