Western Washington University

Western Washington University professor Rand Jack will retire from teaching in June and continue to practice law with the Brett and Daugert law firm in Bellingham. The Fairhaven College Law and Diversity Program that he founded in 1991 will double in size to further its mission of increasing diversity in the legal profession. The undergraduate pre-law program will add two new faculty members. Teri McMurtry-Chubb comes from Drake University Law School, where she teaches legal writing as the first full-time female of color faculty member. Raquel Montoya-Lewis comes from the University of New Mexico Law School where she teaches legal writing.

Shoefly

Shoefly, a new women's shoe store in Greenlake, is hosting an event in support of the Seattle chapter of the YWCA Dress for Success program. Shaun Han, co-owner and business manager of Shoefly, said customers who bring in "gently worn" professional women's shoes from May 22 to May 26 will get 20 percent off their purchase of shoes, handbags, wallets and jewelry. Shoefly also will donate a percentage of net proceeds to Dress for Success Seattle.

Cole & Weber/Red Cell

Cole & Weber/Red Cell has shuffled two members of its executive team. Originally hired as senior vice president CRM and direct marketing one year ago, Kristine Stebbins will become director of client services. Dave Behn has moved from interactive director to director of agency services. The agency reorganized to integrate advertising, interactive media, public relations and direct marketing. Stebbins will oversee the new integrated client services team.

Alderwood Mall

Alderwood Mall has added Ruby's Diner, Build-A-Bear Workshop and Aèropostale as new tenants in the 270,000 square-foot expansion. Ruby's Diner is adjacent to the entrance of the mall's Food Court. Build-A-Bear Workshop lets buyers customize take-home stuffed animals. Aèropostale sells young adult clothing. Alderwood Mall's General Manager Jerry Alder says the expanded and renovated mall will have more than 200 retailers. Two new retail areas are being added: the 165,000 square-foot Village and the 24,000 square-foot Terraces. A new 80,000 square-foot, stadium-style theater complex is also planned. Completion is set for the fall of 2004.

Downtown Seattle Association

The Downtown Seattle Association announced new officers for its Board of Trustees: chairman Mike Flynn, Puget Sound Business Journal; first vice chair Carla Murray, Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide; vice chair Mark Houtchens, The Vance Corp.; and treasurer James Young, Seattle Steam Corp. John C. McCullough of Phillips McCullough Wilson Hill & Fikso remains as general counsel. New members to the Board of Trustees include James D. Hebert, Pamela Pearson, Patrick Gordon, Paul Ishii, Alan Kurimura and Richard Stevenson.

Peak Internet

Seattle-based Peak Internet has unified its lines of business, including Jathai Group, Media Access and SwiftTech, under the new name Peak Systems. The company also launched a new Web site at www.peaksystems.com.

Peak Systems is a privately held, employee-owned, information technology company offering Web and graphic design, software development, technical writing, server maintenance, programming, systems administration and hosting.

Alteon

Alteon Training, a subsidiary of the Boeing Co., has appointed Martin Williams regional director of sales and business development for the European region. Williams will be responsible for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He replaces Dawn Chane, who is returning to the United States as regional director of sales and business development - Americas. The company provides flight, technical and cabin crew training, and training materials.

RealNetworks

RealNetworks announced that, due to recent health set-backs, Brian Turner, CFO, has decided to resign. Turner will remain with RealNetworks until June, and Michael Eggers, general manager of finance, will assume the CFO's duties until a replacement is found. Eggers joined RealNetworks in 1997 and manages financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, planning and tax functions. He previously was at KPMG. RealNetworks provides network-delivered digital audio and video services.

PNGC Power

Roger Meader has been elected chairman of Portland's PNGC Power's board of directors. He is currently general manager of the Okanogan County Electric Cooperative in Winthrop and was previously secretary/treasurer of the PNGC board. Meader replaces LaNea Holt, manager of Lost River Electric Cooperative in Idaho, who is retiring.

Pierce County

Pierce County won 13 awards by the National Association of County Information Officers, including a Superior Award and Best of Class citation for the department of communication's Web site redesign project. The department of communications won 12 honors, one in conjunction with the assessor-treasurer's office. The environmental services division/water programs won a Citizen Education Projects Award for its flood bulletin.

Rite Stuff Foods

Rite Stuff Foods is moving its corporate headquarters from California to Jerome, Idaho. The headquarters will be housed in Rite Stuff's 100,000 square-foot facility in Jerome. Rite Stuff is a specialty potato processor.
