POP!

Seattle's creative agency POP! has hired five new members. Jeff Barker, previously with Methodologie and The Retail Group, joined the client services team as business development associate. Kaci Clot was named marketing manager. Dan White, with over eight years of software engineering experience in the telecommunications and e-commerce industries, joined the systems integration team as technical director. Tom Waldman, a recent graduate from the University of Arizona, was named a developer on the software development team. Anthony Torrence, formerly a QA engineer for Nintendo and X-Box, was named lead quality assurance engineer.

Versata

Sue Quillian has been named a loan officer at Versata. She was previously a quality control officer for the company. Quillian joined Versata in 2002 and previously worked for Washington Mutual and Bank of America. Versata is a mortgage brokerage firm based in Olympia, with offices in Lacey and Aberdeen.

Artist Trust

New officers elected to the board of trustees at Artist Trust are: Edie Adams chair, Jennifer Randall president, Janice Niemi first vice president, Sarah Novotny second vice president, Steve Lindstrom secretary and Joan Broughton treasurer. K. Bradford Claypool, immediate past president, and board member Bonnie Berk will co-chair the board. Artist Trust is a not-for profit organization providing support to individual artists working in all disciplines throughout the state.

Ex Officio

Ex Officio, a Seattle-based manufacturer of outdoor and travel apparel, named Pat Nugent to a newly created senior management position focusing on merchandising and design. Nugent was previously vice president of production and vice president of merchandising for Cutter & Buck, and was owner and president of Pat Nugent Design. Nugent will head up product and inventory strategy.

Women’s Business Center

The Women’s Business Center, at 1437 S. Jackson St. in Seattle, has received funding for its sixth year of operation. The center is a jointly funded project of the U.S. Small Business Association and Community Capital Development, and focuses on helping women and minority business owners grow small businesses.

Washington Defense Trial Lawyers

The Washington Defense Trial Lawyers elected Joanne Thomas Blackburn as president, Jeffrey Frank as president-elect, Michelle Menely as secretary and Jill Haavig Stone as treasurer. Blackburn is an owner at Garvey Schubert Barer in Seattle. Frank is with Bullivant Houser Bailey in Seattle, Menely is with Gordon Thomas Honeywell in Seattle and Stone is a member of Burgess Fitzer in Tacoma. The Washington Defense Trial Lawyers is a 750-member organization of trial lawyers that specialize in civil defense litigation.

University of Washington

Dr. Douglas Ramsay has been appointed chairman of the Department of Dental Public Health Sciences at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. He replaces Dr. Timothy DeRouen, who is now the executive associate dean for the School of Dentistry. Ramsay is a professor of dental public health sciences, with joint appointments in the departments of orthodontics and pediatric dentistry, and has adjunct appointments in the departments of oral biology and psychology.

Executive Women's Golf Association

The Seattle Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf Association will be joining chapters from Portland, Boise and Spokane to sponsor the Rally For A Cure Tournament on Aug. 16 to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The tournament will be at McCormick Woods Golf Course in Port Orchard and is open to golfers 18 and older. Stevens Worldwide Van Lines

Stevens Worldwide Van Lines, based in Saginaw, Mich., named Morrison Stevens, Jr. western regional vice president of its executive field force. Stevens will handle national sales accounts and counsel sales agents in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Stevens previously worked with Prudential Legend Realty in Denver.
