Washington State University

Nicholas P. Lovrich, a professor of political science at Washington State University, was appointed interim chancellor of WSU Spokane. He succeeds Rom Markin, who recently retired and won an award for Distinguished Lifetime Service. A committee is searching for a permanent chancellor.

Anthony's Restaurants

Anthony's Restaurants promoted John Fitzgerald to regional manager. He will help open restaurants in Spokane and Richland, and work on guest services, restaurant operations and management development. Fitzgerald was general manager at Anthony's HomePort in Des Moines, where he will be replaced by Dana Lancaster. Anthony's owns and operates 20 restaurants at 15 waterfront locations in Washington.

Nextel Partners

Kirkland-based Nextel Partners announced vice president and chief operating officer Perry Satterlee will leave the company to become COO of start-up Clearwire Corp. Jim Ryder will be Nextel's vice president of sales and marketing, and Philip Gaske will be vice president of customer care. Ryder has led national sales and distribution efforts and Gaske has managed the company's customer service team since it was formed.

Qpass

Seattle-based software company Qpass appointed Thomas F.P. Enochs vice president of professional services. Enochs has expertise in provisioning, billing and e-commerce. He was vice president of client services at Covestic, where he worked with Yahoo!, AT&T Wireless and Washington Mutual.

Envision

Seattle-based Envision Telephony, a contact center software company, will open an Asia Pacific headquarters in Australia to extend its global distribution. Michael Langford will be Asia Pacific sales manager. Langford has 15 years of telecom experience and will support customer relationships in international markets. He was general manager for M5 Technologies and worked for Active Voice Corp.

FCS Group

FCS Group hired financial analysts Surabhi Chauhan and Michael Dean. They will do statistical analysis, equity and benchmarking for public utilities projects. Sharon Cercone is a marketing assistant and will prepare marketing proposals, coordinate tradeshows and manage public relations. Redmond-based FCS Group specializes in municipal financial, economic and management consulting in the western part of the country.

Seattle Executives Association

Scott Morton of Morton Creative will become the new president of Seattle Executives Association on July 7 at a lunch meeting aboard the Royal Argosy. Vice presidents Tom Hill of Metropolitan Building Maintenance and Kevin Shoemaker of Consolidated Restaurants will also be new officers to lead the business owners networking association for 2004.

Paulsen, Megaard & Co.

Bothell-based Paulsen, Megaard & Co. announced Dennis Megaard and Susan Paulsen are now licensed nursing home administrators in Washington state. The firm provides accounting services primarily in the health care and nursing home field. Paulsen, Megaard & Co. plans to expand nursing home management and consulting services.

National Black Chamber of Commerce

The Pacific Northwest chapter National Black Chamber of Commerce hosts its first annual W.E. McIntosh Memorial Golf Tournament on July 26 at Newcastle Golf Club at China Creek, 1550 Six Penny Lane, Newcastle. Proceeds go to a scholarship fund. The late W.E. Public Disclosure Commission

Spokane City Attorney Michael Connelly was elected chair of the Public Disclosure Commission. Connelly replaces Earl Tilly of Wenatchee who been chair of the commission since last year. Commissioner Jeannette Wood from Edmonds was elected vice chair and Commissioner Francis Martin of Yakima was elected secretary. Members are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state Senate. New terms run from July to June 2005.

Small Business Development Center

The Washington Small Business Development Center Network gave Megan Watt an award for counseling. Watt is a business development specialist with the small business development center at Western Washington University's College of Business and Economics in Bellingham. Watt helps Whatcom County businesses with business plans, marketing strategies, cash flow analyses and loan packages.
