Klondike Gold Rush Park

The Northwest Interpretive Association, a non-profit that supports Pacific Northwest national parks and forests, will host a fundraising auction for the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park on Saturday, July 17, at Town Hall on Eighth and Seneca starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at Klondike Gold Rush Park at 117 S. MusicNet

Online music service provider MusicNet appointed Cris Pierry vice president of product development. Pierry will be based in Seattle and lead platform development. He co-founded Wilgrid, a software company that integrates mobile technologies with communications software. Headquartered in New York, MusicNet's shareholders include EMI Music, RealNetworks, Sony Music Entertainment

Amnis Corp.

Seattle-based Amnis Corp. named Howard D. Goldstein senior vice president of global sales and marketing. He has 25 years experience marketing life sciences products and systems, and at Amnis will support the commercial release of a cell analysis system. He was a senior vice president at Argonaut Technologies and founded the eBioinformatics unit of Entigen Corp.

Seattle Small Business Awards

Several small businesses in Seattle received the Mayor's Small Business Awards for excellence in marketing, management, employee relations and community involvement. Winners are ActivSpace, Avidian Technologies, Bandoleone restaurant, ColorsNW Magazine, Compass Communications, GoTech, Hilltop Service Station, SignOn, Two Big Blondes Plus Size Consignment Shop and Utilikilts Co.

Blue Ribbon Cooking School

The Blue Ribbon Cooking School will open on July 15 in at 2501 Fairview Ave. E. Owners Virginia and Mike Duppenthaler design culinary programs for corporate team-building events and large private gatherings. The 5,200-square-foot center will be able to accommodate up to 125 people.

University of Phoenix Washington

The University of Phoenix Washington campus is launching a new information systems masters program at its Bellevue learning center. Williams, Kastner & Gibbs

Christopher Marks, an associate in the law firm Williams, Kastner & Gibbs' Seattle office, is vice chair for the American Bar Association's Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Committee. The committee works on toxic tort, hazardous waste, chemical and pharmaceutical exposure litigation, and regulation.

Vulcan

Vulcan, a Seattle investment and project management company founded by Paul Allen, hired Lance Conn as executive vice president of investment management. Conn will oversee strategy and operations of Vulcan's investment portfolio, which includes billions of dollars of assets in 40 business, technology, biotech and other holdings. Conn was a laywer with the Shaw Pittman law firm in Washington, D.C. In London, he supervised America Online's European investments, alliances and business initiatives.

University of Washington, Bothell

Professor G. Thomas Bellamy is new vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Washington, Bothell. Bellamy just completed two years as interim vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Colorado.

Greater Renton Chamber of Commerce

Victor Karpiak will chair the board of directors of the Greater Renton Chamber of Commerce. He replaces Ron Stroben of Ronald D. Stroben Insurance who will continue as a board officer. Steve Holman of Holman Real Estate Services is new board chair-elect and will succeed Karpiak as chair for the next term.

Betts, Patterson & Mines

Steve Block of Seattle law firm Betts, Patterson & Mines was selected national president-elect of the Association for Transportation Law, Logistics and Policy, with more than 900 lawyers and transportation professionals. Block has 18 years of litigation experience, concentrating on transportation, customs and business. He also works on regulation, international trade and border security law.

Entellium

Entellium, a provider of hosted sales, customer service and marketing products, named Natalee Roan vice president of sales and marketing for North America operations. She headed a national sales team at Sprint. Roan was also with Nextel Communications and GTE Wireless, where she worked on pricing strategy and distribution. Entellium is headquartered in Seattle and has an R&D center in Malaysia.

Columbia Bank

Columbia Bank promoted Michael Block to vice president. He will continue as branch manager at the bank's 43rd and Meridian location. Block has 16 years of banking experience. Michelle Welsh, who has 15 years of mortgage lending experience, was promoted to assistant vice president. She will continue as a residential lender covering Tacoma, Fircrest, University Place and Gig Harbor. Columbia has 34 branches in Pierce, King, Cowlitz, Kitsap and Thurston counties.
