Joaquin Hernandez, an associate in the Seattle office of regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, was named one of 19 regional presidents serving the nonprofit Hispanic National Bar Association. Hernandez will oversee the northwest region comprised of Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho and Alaska.
Pizza Fusion has opened a Seattle restaurant in the Trace Lofts at 12th & Madison in Capitol Hill. Upon receiving certification, Pizza Fusion says it will be Washington's first ever organic and LEED certified restaurant. Kevin York and Casey Seremek founded the new location. York worked at the Spring Air Mattress Co. Seremek was director of finance at Eastside Catholic High School. Pizza Fusion has 75 restaurants in 15 states across the U.S.
Richard E. Mitchell, general counsel for Gov. Chris Gregoire, will join Summit Law Group on December 8. Mitchell is leaving the Governor's office after four years and will lead Summit's Real Estate Asset Group, a multi-disciplinary practice involving real estate, land use, environmental, design and construction law.
Fashion designer Tory Burch will open her first Pacific Northwest boutique in September of 2009 at The Shops at The Bravern in Bellevue. The designer sells clothing, handbags, shoes and jewelry.

The Seattle office of Lane Powell hired Abraham K. Lorber as an associate in the Complex Litigation Practice Group. Lorber worked as a summer associate at Lane Powell and taught LSAT prep for the Kaplan Co.
Western Washington University hired Steve Swan as vice president for university relations. Swan, currently assistant chancellor for university advancement at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, will start at WWU on Jan. 5. He succeeds Robert Frazier, who resigned last summer. Since then, Sherry Burkey has served as interim vice president for external affairs, and will assume the position of associate vice president for university relations and director for legislative relations.
Garvey Schubert Barer added three attorneys to its Seattle office as associates. They are John Crosetto, Elisabeth Yandell McNeil and Michelle Rosenthal. Crosetto concentrates on litigation, labor and employment and class actions. McNeil concentrates on business and corporate finance. Rosenthal concentrates on environment and natural resources.
Bellevue-based Formotus, a provider of mobile line-of-business applications, hired Bill McQuain as vice president of sales and business development. McQuain has 20 years experience in the technology industry and worked at Enterprise Mobile and Microsoft.
