City re-thinks its vision for Civic Center open space

  • Faced with budget cuts and a sagging economy, is the city throwing away a golden opportunity for open space?

    Seattle suffers from more than a couple of civic personality disorders that are once again threatening to undermine its future.

    One is neighborhood-centrism. This view of the world has made comprehensive planning in this city a particular challenge, and brought a stream of City Council members into office campaigning against "downtown."
