Bell Street has risen to a new level, and pedestrians are now on even footing with cars. The transformation of four blocks of the street between First and Fifth avenues into a city park is complete.
Bell Street Park is a cross between a street and a plaza, and it takes a little getting used to. Don't look for curbs in the usual places. Cars go down the east-west street (one-way, west) on the same level as everyone on foot — or in wheelchairs or strollers.
