Project of the Month: 'Meanings not lost' in Magnolia

The intricate post-and-beam composition of the original Paul Hayden Kirk-designed Magnolia Branch Library is visible from the sidewalk along 34th Avenue West. The restoration and addition project helped to ensure that the wood beams, which extend six feet beyond the roof structure, will be there in the future.
Looking up from busy 34th Avenue West, the Magnolia Branch Library is a picture of elegant modernism. The one-story, wood frame cedar-shingle-clad building blends beautifully with the landscape and the low buildings behind it.
