Talk about persistence.
For 19 years, Jack and Marlene Halper sought the medical records of the woman who gave birth to David, their adopted son. When the adoption agency finally produced them, the parents learned to their dismay that the birth mother suffered from a severe psychiatric disorder. But although the Halpers' ensuing lawsuit against the adoption agency dragged on for almost another decade, their perseverance ultimately paid off.
