WSDOT builds snowplows in its 'Monster Garage'

  • Mechanics take about 40 hours to modify trucks to become snowplows.

    WSDOT is outfitting 14 International 7600 trucks with snow blades. The job requires installation of new headlights above the blade and electronic controls in the cab.

    With winter bearing down on the Northwest, the Washington State Department of Transportation is busy prepping for the inevitable snowstorms and ice accumulation — from the foothills of the Cascades to, possibly, the streets of Seattle.
