State legislators have found at least one issue that business, labor and state agencies all are concerned about — construction industry employees paid under the table, a trend they believe is getting out of hand.
Contractors and suppliers feel they're paying more than their share of unemployment, labor and industry fees for their employees, saying their fees would be less if contractors with cash employees were also contributing to those funds. They also feel less competitive in the marketplace against those who keep their costs down by using cash-only workers.
