Hanford demolition spree starts with a bang

  • Stimulus funds are allowing the Department of Energy to take down four exhaust stacks, four baghouses, two coal silos and two water towers.

    Twin stacks at Hanford’s 284 West Power House were brought down last month with explosives. Similar stacks will be leveled tomorrow at the 284 East Power House.

    A number of tall industrial structures at the former Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Eastern Washington will come down in a spectacular fashion tomorrow, courtesy of federal stimulus funding.
