After being displaced from its home on Harbor Island to make way for a container terminal expansion, Seattle Iron & Metals created a new facility which today some are hailing as a "state-of-the-art junkyard." Twelve buildings -- 11 news ones and one renovated structure -- make up the metal recycling firm's new operation on 9.5 acres at 601 Myrtle Ave. S. on the Duwamish River.
