Lakes High School has opened at 10320 Farwest Drive S.W. in Lakewood. The new school was built with funds from a $65 million bond issue approved by voters in 2006.
Construction crews started work in 2008, building the school in phases while students remained on campus.
The Pathways Building was the first phase and opened in 2009. It has classrooms, a library and performing arts center.
The Success Building was built in the second phase and opened last January. It has a cafeteria, gymnasium, pool, classrooms and administrative offices.
The third phase was athletic fields, tennis courts, site work, landscaping and a new bus loop, parking lots and sidewalks. Work was finished in time for the start of school this year.
